They run true to size so probably a good idea to get a half size larger than your normal shoe size if you want to wear heavy socks.
Update 9/13: After two seasons they are still nicely leakproof, and the little bit of stiffness in the ankles goes away after a few wearings. The soles have a nice grip in snow and slush. I'm looking to get another pair in a different color.
The only thing I was unsure about was the waterproofing abilities of the boots. I'd only really tested it against the cold (wind) and an inch or two of snow. After this past week however, the boots proved far better than expected. I've worn "waterproof" boots in the past that claimed to be waterproof, but after even tromping around in the snow (wet or not..) my feet would start getting wet, and of course would then be freezing shortly after. After the foot of snow last Saturday started forming 6 inch rivers in the road which I stood in for two hours digging out my car, I'm sold on the abilities of these boots. After the two hours jumping in and out of the water and snow piles, my feet were still warm and dry when I went inside.
They are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods, quite light-weight, and seem very durable. I have no concerns about wearing these boots and giving them a beating in the winters. They were a great choice for the unpredictable winters in Nebraska.
Warm - These boots have kept my feet very warm to the point where I have to take them off at work because my feet will start to sweat.
Dry - Through the snow and slush, my feet have stayed completely dry. Even when I stepped in ankle deep puddles at the end of my driveway, shoveling to clear the snowy slush that had been pushed there by the dozer clearing our street.
Fit - I wear an 8-8.5, so I decided to go with 8.5 on these because of other comments I had read. I'm very glad I did because they fit just right. And I have wide feet! I was so worried that I was going to have a hard time wearing them do to being squished on the sides, but my feet fit very well in these boots and I wear them with no discomfort from the sides being to tight.
Comfort - I hate shoes/boots because my feet tend to start hurting very quickly in them. I have no problem wearing these boots all day long however. (For me) they provide the proper amount of support and comfort along the sole and heel of the boots.
Ice - The only real problem I have with these boots is that they are not good on ice at all. Which isn't all that surprising since very few boots are fine alone on ice. With the help from a good pair of shoe chains, the ice isn't a problem anymore.
Finally - Would I recommend these boots to others?
Yes! I know these won't be the "best boots ever" for everyone, but with how picky I am about what I put on my feet and I'm happy with them, then I think others should definitely give these boots a try.
