update: tailor took in armpits fits perfectly now. arm pit holes were too big/too big in chest/rib cage area. i used a seam ripper and removed the flap with female side of snaps. removed 9 oz. which is huuuuge for carry on only travelers and backpackers and those with shoulder/back pain from heavy clothing. too bad cant remove male side of snaps. but very happy i was able to remove the flap which is useless and weighty. now im ready for my adventures :)
It is not designed to carry a weapon, but it provides excellent concealment. (In fact, because it is light-weight it really won't carry anything except my small tri-fold wallet without bagging a bit. So this would not be a thing for a photographer or traveler who wants to carry a bunch of widgets. It's tough enough but too light-weight for that job.)
I am 38 waist/43 Chest/ 205#. I can carry a folding knife and two mags on one hip and a colt commander on the other wearing the XX-large. Normally, I am a large at Wally World. Doesn't print or reveal anything when bending, walking, etc. Exactly what I wanted for that purpose. But I have chosen a fit that is not at all like the picture. The fit in the picture wouldn't conceal a ballpoint!
The larger size is just a touch baggy under the arms, but that is not bad in the warm weather for which I bought it. I suggested to my wife that she stitch the "handwarmer pockets" up, but she says they are not too baggy and the over-all look is very satisfactory.
I am expecting to get a couple of year's use out of this vest. A very good deal for the price - almost $20 less than at REI.
Depending on what you are looking for, this is an excellent product and good value.
Really nice for traveling, if you have everything in your vest it makes faster going through security.
The only down is probably that it does not dissipate well the heat in temperatures of 30 C and above while using long sleeve underneath. For that temperatures I would recommend using short sleeve or even consider a vest with mesh sides or back. Still, not a deal breaker.
