Material: The fleece liner is not a soft fleece; it's slightly rough with a small one directional pile. The sleeves are lined inside with another layer of soft thinner fleece; this creates very warm arms! This thinner fleece is also the lining of the pockets in both the liner and the shell which makes very comfortable pockets. Zippers are mid quality, not cheap zippers but not heavy duty ones either. The shell is made of two layers and the inner layer is slick and soft on the skin.
Style: There are buttons to keep the sleeves of the liner in place and velcro to keep the neck area in place. Velcro is also present at the wrist and to cover the main zippers. There's just two zipped pockets for the shell and two zipped pockets for the liner, which are inaccessible if both pieces are zipped together. The bottom of the shell can be tightened as well as the hood by elastic.
Warmth: With a long sleeve base layer and long sleeve tee, I survived wind chill in the teens.
This jacket did a great job of keeping me warm and dry while skiing. I really like the versatility of it, though I haven't worn any of the pieces as separates yet. I don't think it would be warm enough for really low temps if you weren't moving around - but for an active day of skiing in 20-degree temps, it was perfect.
It does fit a bit tight in the arms. My arms are pretty thin but wearing anything other than a thin, long-sleeved shirt under the jacket would make it uncomfortable. The other negative of the jacket is the inner fleece jacket is not super soft; to the point that I really prefer to be wearing long sleeves underneath it, or at least wear 3/4 sleeves.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. I didn't want anything very puffy or baggy, and this definitely is not. My only complaint is that I wish the inner fleece was a bit softer, but I plan on using this jacket for many years.
UPDATE: Almost a year after purchasing this jacket, I am still very happy with it. The inner fleece has softened up quite a bit after a few washes and is much more comfortable. I previously had some concerns that this jacket might not be warm enough if you were not being active, but I recently wore the jacket to a college football game in 40-degree temps and rain. It kept me dry and warm, despite sitting and not moving around.
I checked her other coats to be sure I ordered the right size which I did.
The correct size was shipped and it was received in very good condition and on time.
However the coat was a snug fit that would not allow any layering of clothing. There would not be enough room for a blouse and sweater.
Otherwise, the coat was well constructed and had the bonus of a zip out lining that could easily be used as a light weight jacket.
It had pleasant color options. It is a good value.

My mom loves this jacket. I bought it for her for Christmas. Columbia is a very trusted brand so I knew I didn't have to worry about anything.Published 1 month ago by LeLaikes
I really liked the coat style and how it looked on me, but it doesn't fit true to size. I bought a small and fit more like a extra small.Published 5 months ago by kelly
This jacket is versatile, warm in very cold weather and practical — but also looks good!Published 17 months ago by Betsy on the beach
Note that the size fit as expected because there is an inner coat that comes with the jacket. I do not really like the inner fleece coat because the opening of the sleeves are... Read morePublished 20 months ago by Rachel Ong
The inner liner runs smaller then I expected. Pretty tight on the arms and I usually don't have that problem with coats. Other then that, very durable and pretty.Published 20 months ago by Katie
I dismissed some of the previous reviews and paid the price. You need to order 2x whatever size they list.Published on July 15, 2014 by preith
I was hoping this jacket would be a little more form fitting in the middle so that it didn't look so bulky, but it's great quality and fits perfectly otherwise. I am happy with it. Read morePublished on June 14, 2014 by John Saucier
