My first words for this book are: Amazing, Excellently written, and a Tear Jerkier!
WOW!! Melissa Foster has written an exceptional story about love, war, hurt, and emotional challenges. I have only read two of Melissa's books, but I can honestly say that I would read her books over and over.

I was automatically thrown into Tess' life. Tess is an awesome self made strong (so everyone thinks) woman. She runs her own company and married to a very successful photographer. Tess finds out she is expecting, and knowing their five year plan, she decides to wait to let everyone know. Is that a good idea?

Beau, oh my, decides to take an assignment that takes him into Iraqi. Then the worst thing happens, the helicopter he was in was hit and crashes. Tess and everyone believes he is dead. Can Tess, friends, and his family get on with their life?

There are so many twist and turns, heart wrenching, heart warming, screaming, loyalty divided and wonderful memory scenes in this amazing book. I will not get into specifics due to not wanting to give away the book. But let me say this. This is a "Must Read Book for this year!! Just make sure you have a box of tissues waiting.

So since I was able to get into the story line right away, could not put it down, characters were believable I am going to give this book my breath of life rating of: Five Clocks!!!!1

A love story with unbearable loss

When I finished reading this book, I was so heartbroken and angry over the ending, I wanted to write a scathing review. Once I calmed down, I re-read the last third of the book again. The book begins with Beau in Iraq as a photographer for an undetermined amount of time and Tess left at home. They are deeply in love and he promises her he will return and she counts on that. When Beau is feared dead, Tess is the only one that will not admit he is gone for weeks. She still feels connected to him and refuses to have a memorial service, which upsets family and friends. The story weaves back and forth with Beau trying to overcome his injuries and find a way back home, along with Tess trying to move forward, go to work, and deal with the thought of a pregnancy on her own.

I kept reading faster and faster, wanting to get to the part where they will be reunited. Without giving away the latter portion of the book, there are injuries, miscommunication, incorrect assumptions, with all leading to heartbreak. I was in tears by the end of the book and felt that there were just too many unfortunate circumstances.

The story does portray some of the instances that women in that area of the world have to deal with on a daily basis with mistreatment at the hands of men. Two of these women on the run, find Beau after the helicopter crash and nurse him back to health. Along with the women, there are 3 children, trying to flee across the desert. They are all anxious and frightened not knowing who to trust on their journey.

This book is not a lighthearted read but is well written and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Foster's books.

I think I would have given this a higher rating if it had ended differently. Nice writing style and EXCELLENT research. This is a very emotional book about a woman whose husband goes off to Iraq as a wartime photographer. When his helicopter is shot down in Iraq, his family is told that he has been killed. Despite the news, Tess, his wife, refuses to believe that he is really gone. As she tries to come to grips with his death, her husband is actually still fighting for his life. There is strong profanity that picks up about 75% of the way through, so I would not recommend this book to sensitive readers. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy plot twists that bring about emotionally charged situations.

ABSOLUTELY RIVETING! Such an Emotional book. Have your tissues nearby. I wanted to read it all in one day, but it took me a few hours. Difficult to put down. When I finished the book, my mind couldn't let it go. I was not expecting this type of book at all. Just thought it would be a soft romance. There is pure love in it, but what an ending. This book had so many twists and turns, you could not imagine what would happen next. If you're looking for a light-hearted romance, this book is not for you. Family relationships and what happens when one disagrees. Regarding a married couple very much in love with the husband in Iraq, thought to be dead. Wife pregnant not knowing what to do. Her picture keeps him alive and her faith keeps her believing he will come home. My heart felt like it turned over at the end. I had to buy the book but it was well worth it. I would like to have it in paperback as well as kindle. Sometimes just by accident we run across one of those rare finds when looking for something to read. This is that book.
