"I absolutely LOVE the Sullivan series! I wish they had 10 or more siblings so we could have more books about this dynamic family (thank goodness Bella Andre is going to write about the other branch of the Sullivan family). I would advise you to start from the beginning for the Sullivan series and read all the way through the end. I'm waiting anxiously for the next installment!"

It did have complex, likable main characters, each with complex lives of their own. It was easy to see that Smith Sullivan was a wealthy, charismatic, much sought after actor and outrageously gorgeous man. Women all over wanted him and wanted to be seen with him. But he knew there weren't any who really saw him for who he was. Until Valentina that is. One of the things I really liked was how tender and patient Smith was with/to Valentina as he wooed her. She sure didn't make it easy!
Talk about a complex woman, her life to this point had made her that way. The things that she has seen over the years leave her coldly unimpressed with Hollywood men. She'd seen that the men who pretended as actors were also quite skilled at pretending at real life. Everything in her says, "No thank-you" to that.
She has passion in her but she keeps that in tight order and her business acumen is front and center. The only reason she would have anything to do with Hollywood or actors was to protect her much beloved younger sister Tatiana. Acting was her passion and she was a shining star at it. Valentina has been the protecting force for Tatiana as she grew up in the business. Valentina was 100% comfortable NOT being in the limelight.
This story was different though because it was also a story in a story. "Gravity" is a movie that Smith has written, is acting in , producing and directing. And as the movie progresses you can begin to see the parallels between the movie, Gravity and some of the things Smith and Valentina are dealing with.
This also a very emotional story with a H.E.A. for Smith and Valentina. Along with a great family that surrounds and loves. That would be the Sullivan family of course. Their part adds so much to the story as well.
I think Bella Andre nailed the film entertainment industry with precision in this novel because some family members of my own work in the industry, and this book is accurate in so many ways. Smith is not a cardboard representation of a film star, anymore than Valentina is a facade of a film star's personal/business rep. A reader can learn a great deal about the industry and its demands in this book. The only thing that did not ring true at all was the film that Smith and Tatiana were starring in. It sounded like one for Hallmark Channel - cloying, syrupy, gooey fantasy - no Oscar nominations forthcoming there!!! Fortunately, Smith and Valentina's romance was well-anchored in reality between charming, likable characters.
The Sullivan Family interactions ring true: Sophie and Jake welcome their babies; and name them after her Dad and Smith - a deft touch of sentimentality that brought tears to my eyes and seemed appropriate for these two siblings in particular and this family group. I do wish that Andre would drop that expression "wild monkey love" to describe lovemaking with intense passion and imagination. It does nothing to improve the narrative and seems like something heard in a high school boys' locker room. All in all, this is a novel that's a clever, delightful, and pleasant read. Enjoy!
Headstrong Valentina has gotten to him he realizes with her being on the set with her sister. His dream has been to find a woman who saw him for what he truly was inside and out and not about all his money and glamour. Valentina is falling for Smith but tries to fight it because he is an actor. You will see a parallel between “Gravity” and what Smith and Valentina are dealing with. Intense weeks on the set turn their attraction into passion. Does Smith have the understanding and love to wait Valentina out? Can Valentina let go and accept that he is different from other stars?
Right forever love should be easy. The sex scenes are just part of the budding movie and relationship. I enjoyed the likeable down to earth characters for believing in true love and the importance of family. That said, how many actors are truly willing to put family first to make a relationship work rather than think of their money and fame? If I loved a man, I would not be comfortable watching him do sex scenes with another woman let alone my sister! Ultimate love makes you strong to overcome fears, so you are willing to take a chance. Come A Little Bit Closer can be read as a standalone and I would recommend this emotional love story.

Book 5 features film star Smith Sullivan and Valentina Landon, the sister and manager to his co-star in his new film Gravity. Valentina assumes he's just another actor who's going to take advantage of her little sister and warns him off, Smith persuades her that he's different and that he likes her not her sister. Life in the public eye is difficult for Valentina and threatens their future together.
Smith has intrigued me since we met him in previous books, not the fact that he's a film star but that's he's reserved, doesn't share much even with family. Throughout the book, as a lot is set around the filming of the movie, there are scenes of the film written up. I loved the film scenes, they are worthy of their own book. When Smith and Valentina's sex scene is filmed I couldn't help but feel for her, I can't imagine how awkward watching your boyfriend and sister would be.
An improvement on the previous few books in this series.
to the rule. It's sassy, sensual, as all the others are, but each one has different issues in all of them, but what stands out in all of them is that the ultimate love can make you strong and can help you overcome almost anything when it's the strongest. The love and affection and closeness between each member of the Sullivan family and their spouses and partners are infectious. Being mainly due to a devoted mother who tragically lost her loving husband at an early age which devastated the whole family. But that didn't stop her from loving and caring for her family without a thought for herself. Never has there been a greater love than a mother's love for her children, as old as time.
For me it was a great read. I loved the book and I'm just off to read it again.
