"Amazing, beautiful story! Nobody writes like AL Jackson! ~Kara, Two Book Pushers

"I am not even sure that anything I have to say is really going to give this book all the praise it deserves. I was completely caught up in this book, the emotions of the characters grabbing me with a vise and not letting go." ~Books She Reads

It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan of A.L. Jackson's books. The first book I read Pulled stayed with me and to this day I still remember how hauntingly beautiful the story and her writing was. Her books have never let me down and Come to Me Quietly just reminded me of how amazing of a storyteller she is.

This book is deep... the storyline and the characters have so much depth at times you feel like you are drowning with them in their sorrows. As with all her books I was sucked into an emotional battle.

Jared is BROKEN! I'm a sucker for the broken boys, but I have to admit I didn't love him at first. It took me some time to get used to his character. As the story developed and I heard his full story I couldn't help but fall in love with this broken man. He just needs someone to help him out of the black hole of self destruction and that person happens Aleena Moore. She's a light in the darkness for Jared but he's too messed up over his past and the mistakes he's made to let her become anything more then another mistake. Your heart will BLEED for him and what he's been through. I cried and cried when I learned his full story.

Aleena or Aly, is one strong character. She has been hiding ever since the day Jared was stripped from their lives. Hiding behind the pain and hiding behind her secrets. It took a while to get to why Aly let this affect her so much. I mean friends come and go it's part of life, but this was so much more to her. She never really let anyone in, as much as people tried she was truly closed off. I know that she was in love with Jared when they were children so there had to be more to the story and oh boy was there EVER! I didn't see that twist coming which is rare for me.

I had read another of this author’s New Adult offerings and liked her voice. When I was offered this novel to review, I knew that there would be heavy and intense angst going in. Unfortunately, by the end of this book, I had no compassion or sympathy for either of the main characters.

Aleena “Aly” Moore can’t complain about life, even if it’s a little ho-hum. School is good, her family and friends love her and a boy follows her around like a heartsick puppy. Life is just fine, but Aly still feels like she is missing something. Then, one night, a phone call from her brother changes everything – Jared Holt is back in town. Nobody knew… but Aly had a super secret crush on Jared when she was 13.

Jared Holt is a Tortured Bad Bad Boy. He did something Bad when he was 16 and then he turned bad and ruined everything and then left town. Now, Jared is 26 with tattoos, a rap sheet and a motorcycle. He isn’t sure why he left his home and quit his steady job in construction to come back to the town that holds all his bad memories with a few bucks in his wallet, no job and nowhere to stay. Lucky for Jared, he runs into his old best friend, Christopher Moore, who invites Jared to crash at the apartment he shares with Aly.

Jared is surprised to see the woman Aly has become. Aly is surprised that Jared is no longer the boy who left, but a broken man. If either of them had any amount of intelligence, this book might have had hope. Jared is just so full of self-loathing and pity I just wanted to slap his face and tell him to get over it. Aly is so naïve it made her seem dense. While I appreciated the slow buildup of their romance, I couldn’t get over Aly “saving herself” for Jared since she was 13?? Um, say what?

Everything had changed even while everything seemed to remain the same.
WOW!!! This is the first book I've read by A.L. Jackson and I have become a fan of her writing. Other authors have captured me with their writing, but A.L. Jackson struck a deep emotional cord with Jared and Aly's story in Come to Me Quietly. This is the first time that I have ever felt so emotionally affected by a story, because I felt all of these characters emotions. It felt like I was taking part and living their story. From this day forward I declare myself a fan of A.L. Jackson writing.

I was ready to submerge myself in the dangerous waters that held Jared under. I'd been treading them for too long.
I loved Aly's character from the very beginning of Come to Me Quietly. She is strong, sweet, caring, determined, and I just felt an instant connection with her character. One of the reasons I felt an instant connection with her character is that she likes to draw, which is something that I can relate to. In her drawings Aly holds one of her biggest secrets since she was a little girl. Aly has everything planned for her life but what she doesn't expect is the return of Jared Holt back into her life and she doesn't expect all of the emotional havoc he makes her feel.

I could never outrun it. Could never drown it. I would never forget.
I also loved Jared Holt, because I just love my damaged bad boys. But Jared is different from all of the other damaged bad boys I've read about. Jared has lived through hell from a very young age, and he is still suffering from one haunting memory he can't get out of his head and can't forgive himself for. I am not kidding when I say that Jared's suffering and haunting story got deep inside my heart.
