I've made his all purpose rub(it's great on tofu as well as meat) and his chicken Vesuvius previously. But what fun to get a glimpse into his history with family, food and entertaining. I am not familiar with the author / chef of this book but I have to say it’s one of my favorite cookbooks and I have over a hundred. I love all his family stories and the history behind the recipes … I’ve made several of the recipes and they are great and everything looks amazing. I’m particularly intrigued by the double dressing salad , can’t wait to make it and the pizzas this summer in my pizza oven at my beach house. I highly recommend this cookbook.

I recently brought this book and have made many of the recipes. So far, so good! I have been watching “The Kitchen” for years and have watched Jeff Mauro mature as a chef and entertainer. This book is well done with easy to follow recipes, photographs of the recipes, tips, & funny stories ! Today I made the Greek Taco for lunch. It was full of flavor and the recipe was well written. I loved the “Aunt Jae’s Double Dressed Creamy Garlic Garden Salad”. It was to die for and I will make it again. The Classic Chicago Chicken Vesuvio is yummy! I have made it twice and will again. I go to Chicago often and have never seen it on a menu but I am so glad it’s in this book. It has all the flavors I crave - lemon, herbs, garlic, wine, chicken, peas and potatoes. The Italian Beef was very good. The Detroit Pizza is good for company. I have a large collection of cookbooks and appreciate books that provide dishes that are interesting and enjoyable and this one has that and more. It comes from the heart ❤️!
