"Mausoleums, dungeons, bloodletting, sexy priests. Ms. Greer, kindly step out of my brain please. ;)...
I give it a 4.5 (rounded to 5), & recommend it to fans of paranormalstories, as well as anyone who has a teensy little secret desire for men of faith (like myself)."  ~Jillyn, Goodreads reviewer

"A sexy priest conflicted by his love for a girl along with a crazy guywho locks people in coffins...what more do you need in a good book? Ithoroughly enjoyed it!
"  ~Cassy, Goodreads reviewer

" The characters are so well drawn, it was difficult to see who the'good' and 'bad' guys were. I was completely surprised by one of theresolutions at the end of the story. Would never have seen that onecoming in a million years!" ~Susan, Goodreads reviewer

"Lisa Greer's books have been a delightful surprise to me, and I dub thee Queen of Gothic suspense."

Mausoleums, dungeons, bloodletting, sexy priests. Ms. Greer, kindly step out of my brain please. ;)

Morgan Peers finds herself thrust into the role of "lady of the manor" when she inherits an old house with a dark, isolated past in a small town. The history teacher part of her wants to unveil its secrets, but the house is just a bit *too* creepy to face alone. She gains the attention of a priest in the town, Noel, who thinks her "ghost stories" are far from crazy, but on the other hand, her attractive gardener isn't so quick to believe. Is Morgan going insane, or is there more than just dust & shadows lurking in the historic house? And more importantly... Which of these men will claim Morgan's heart & save her from things that go bump in the night?

I loved this novella, plain & simple. It was jam-packed with things I love: history, ghost stories, pending insanity. It was fast paced & easy to get through. To be honest, I probably should have seen the ending coming, but alas I did not. It ended in a pleasant whirlwind that left me wanting more. I would definitely want to read another novel(la) featuring the delicious Noel Crimson.

Thank you to Ms. Greer for the free copy, I'm definitely glad I won this.

I give it a 4.5 (rounded to 5), & recommend it to fans of paranormal stories, as well as anyone who has a teensy little secret desire for men of faith (like myself).

As I was pulling together my thoughts for writing this review, I noticed that Greer included the Editor, Mark A. Lewis and T. L. Smith as the Illustrator and Designer... in her byline... Then I noticed that one of the reviewers indicated that there were lots of errors in the book...

It really bothers me that an author's work is evaluated on the combined involvement of a number of people. So, those who read my reviews know I get a personal word in "once in a while..." LOL So, here goes, if there are errors in Greer's book, I choose to give a "Boo-Hiss" to Mark A. Lewis... As to the cover? T. L. Smith needs to review covers of other books. Although I love the conceptual thoughts behind the cover and found it interpretative of the story, I thought the work was a bit amateurish in the actual creation. With graphics these days, I was immediately surprised when I saw it...Just my opinion...

And then I stopped over at Goodreads and discovered a truly beautiful cover...What Gives?

I don't know about you but covers are part of the whole book for me...Was this because of the Kindle copy as well? All I can say is that this type of problem must be straightened out if ebooks are to survive!

On to the novella...which shoulda', coulda' been much better as a novel...

I've been reading gothic romance for nearly 50 years, so it was no problem to pick out the bad guy, even if I didn't know the "why"... One of the reasons was that because of the length, there were not many characters to choose from! Really should have been a novel...

The story was good but not great, Morgan inherits a large estate from a father she had not known and comes to live there, hoping to have it updated and opened to the public.

A good gothic story, but I finish the book with some questions like: what really happened with Aloysius and Morella? And, why the author change the name of the hero from Noel to Noah or even call him Owen?
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a light reading.
