I read Book one, Fishers of Men and am now reading Come Unto me and have ready to go Volume 3. This is a great series. I found it difficult to get into book one but after I understood more, it was very good. Come Unto Me is a page turner for anyone interested in Roman History in 30 -31 AD. Lund did an excellent job of research and explains history in an easy to understand form including a love story and adventure.

I just finished this wonderful trilogy about a family living in the time of Christ and their interaction with Jesus of Nazareth. It's a educational, historical, well-documented gripping masterpiece. The story is well-woven, with end notes after each chapter giving historical insight, references and letting the reader know what is historical and what is a literary device. It's true to the New Testament account of Christ's teachings, while adding in a fictional family with their friends who have a variety of reactions to this new preacher Who is he? Is He the Messiah? Belief has consequences. It answered many questions I had, like how could the crowds adore him one day and then call for his crucifixion the next day. How and why did some of the leaders of the Jews bring this execution to pass - against their own laws?? I love historical novels that bring history to life and teach the reader. This author exceeds expectations. I feel closer to our Savior Jesus Christ after reading this again.

This is one of the best series about Jesus Christ I have ever read. It is very thorough and explains a lot about his parables and his miracles. Gerald lund has combined fictional characters was real people and has created a great story and is very factual in the parts where Jesus is concerned. I have read this series several times and will probably read it many more because I learn so many new things each time. Gerald Lund has done massive research and it shows.

This is an excellent novel based on the Four Gospels. Ironically, portraying fictional characters in the time of Christ makes the Bible stories more real. This is the second volume in the Kingdom & Crown series, and one should read Fishers of Men first to get to know the characters and the fictionalized subplots.

THis is the most wonderful series I've read in a long time. It helps to fully understand the happenings of the life of Jesus Christ. Gerald Lund writes fictional characters along with real life characters. He helps you understand the Twelve Apostles, the Zealots, Sadducees and the Pharisees. You learn about the life of Jesus Christ; his miracles; his death, and the atonement. You learn about Herod's Temple and what went on there. This series is well worth reading.

This book is part of a trilogy, "The Kingdom and the Crown". If you like the New Testament, you will love this set. It views life in the Holy land through the eyes of some fictional families. Through these books, you get a real feel for life under Roman rule, what life was like for a fisherman or a shepherd, a slave or a rich merchant. You see the inner workings of the Jewish councils. You experience life in Rome. You witness the birth and death, and resurrection, of Jesus the Christ, and much that He did during that time.

This series puts the New Testament into perspective, lines the events up in proper order. You will laugh and you will cry, you will feel anger and you will feel sorrow. Watch as hate and prejudice destroys families of the rich and famous, but watch as pure love saves others. Witness the early struggles of Christianity in Judea ... and in Rome.

Watch Peter and James in their daily lives. Be there when Matthew is called to follow Jesus. Be in the group of people who observe as Jesus raises Lazarus. Feel His anger as He clears the merchants out of the Temple.

There are probably fanatical purists who will say that anything outside of scripture is wrong, but this book ... this series is so right. When you read this, you will want to read the Bible again. You will see it in a new light, through the eyes of people who lived in that time and place.

I love this series - in fact I have the CD's - they are on my Kindle and I purchased the books. I have learned so much from this series and have told most all of my friends they should read this series. I have lent out the CD's to a busy young mother that doesn't have time to sit down and read.
I wish Gerald N Lund would write a book on what happened to Mary Magdalen after Jesus returned to his Father. I believe she was his wife and wonder if she was with child.

I can not believe the wonderful things that Gerald N. Lund can do! The more I read this book, the more I could not put it down and even more important, the more I LEARNED about Christ and Judaism. I have read several of Mr. Lund's books and he has opened more doors for me with each and every book. I can't wait for the rest of the series just so I can read them all again. I highly recommend this book to whomever has wondered how a small Jewish baby born to become the Lord and Savior of the world, grow to fulfill that prophesy, and began Christianity. I guarantee it will make you want to read it over and over again to make sure you didn't miss anything.
