I knew, from reading other reviews, that the movie wouldn't be funny. But I tried to watch it anyway because I like stand-up comics and the premise sounded interesting. The movie was horrible in every way imaginable. The production quality was bad. It looked like they shot it with a cell phone. The script was bad. There wasn't any plot and the dialogue made me cringe. And the acting was bad. Although the movie was free to watch on Amazon Prime, I felt ripped off by the reviewers who somehow saw fit to give this five stars.

I managed to finish the film, but it was not easy. The entire thing feels fake and scripted. It tries to be a true life type film but it is too fake. It all took place over 1 week and too much happened to make it believable.
I consider myself a very open minded comic lover and someone that finds humor in every comic. however, this guy in in his 30s and his jokes are terrible. Some are close but extremely disappointing because of his terrible delivery

cough hack cough cough cough cough hack gag cough cough.

Really?

The coughing is just too much. Beyond irritating. Wanted to see if there was some point to it, but could only get to 45% before it was unbearable.

This movie is the antidote for the belief that anybody can make it in showbiz. Character Gary Walden's awkward attempts to be a stand-up comic make him a loser in Los Angeles - although just telling women he's a performer still gets him dates. A brave performance by actor Chris Shields as Walden, a guy most people want to avoid. Nice cameos by Sheldon Coolman as Maurice the club owner; Jeff Blumberg as Uncle Bruce and Keston John as a savvy restaurant owner who offers Walden a job. Chad Jamian Williams plays a brilliant Kenny Baker - successful comedian and Walden's roommate. Actor Jessica Sherman buys into Walden's illusion as the kind-hearted Charlotte.
The audio book Walden is hooked on throughout the story adds resonance to his struggle - "The Idiot" by Dostoevsky.

Explores the trials and tribulations of a stand up comic. There's some funny moments but mainly it's about the struggles of any artist trying to make a living and career out of what they're passionate about- which as any creative person can attest to- is not an easy task. Worth a look.

This movie was shown at the "Dances with Films" festival in Los Angeles. It's nice that it is now available on Amazon for everyone to see. Definitely check this out to see a unique look at a stand up comedian.
