I bought a bunch of these shirts for my husband after reading the NYT Wirecutters review, and they are as good as the reviewer said. Tired of seeing my husband wearing old shirts (some with holes, some just faded and gross) around the house. And these are inexpensive enough that I don't feel guilty about replacing those old shirts or turning them into rags either.

Now that I've washed them all, I can say that washing them just makes them better. No shrinkage but softer feel.

This review is of a Comfort Colors short sleeve t-shirt.

I keep buying these Comfort Colors G1717 shirts because the material is thick enough that you're not going to cause it to stretch out by looking at it the wrong way, but still soft and not at all scratchy. I wear these all year round, either by themselves in warm weather or under a button-down shirt in the colder months. Plus it's got a generous fit. The colors usually are set pretty well and don't fade much, and though they're not tag-less, the tag isn't noticeable. They don't last forever, but I can get at least a year of weekly wear out of them before they go from my wear-it-outside stack to the bedtime-pjs stack. And then I get another year or so out of them after that.

Overall recommendation: buy!

The fabric is very comfortable. I actually bought two, one in ice blue and one in denim, and I was planning to bleach a design on each of them and give them as a gift. Actually, these shirts are REALLY bad for bleaching, it’s really hard to lift the color. The ice blue one lifted more than the denim colored one, and I could actually see the design eventually with a lot of patience. The denim one barely has a mark on it at all, and I bleached the ever loving **** out of it. You can kinda see something in the right light which is still kinda cool, looks like a ghost, it’s like a jump-scare lol. What I mean to say by this is that these shirts are quality, and they’re pretty resistant to fading!

Nice fabric, double-needle stitching on all seams, good roomy fit without being bulky. I'm female, 5'5" and a hundred [coughcough] sixty pounds. The hemline sits slightly below the crotch of my jeans, and will still cover my backside nicely if there's a little shrinkage in the wash. Although I don't have a slender neck, the neckband is comfortably loose without being droopy. If it doesn't twist like a barbershop pole after a few washings, or shrink too much, these will be a permanent brand in my wardrobe.
