This lovely toilet seat has a one-year warranty from the manufacturer, which is (theoretically) helpful because in just about eight months, the hinge holding the seat and the cover sheared off on one side. Thank goodness for that warranty, right? Oh, but wait, it's not nearly that simple. See, the problem is, the manufacturer won't honor the warranty. When I reached Comfort Seat, some pleasant-enough-sounding lady explained that they could only deal with the wholesaler (Amazon), and that they'd need lot numbers or purchase orders or some such malarkey, in order to figure out if they could/would do anything about the broken seat. So off to Amazon I went, whose representative (David) said that the customer has to deal with the manufacturer in a warranty case like this. Ha ha. Eventually the well-intentioned Amazon functionary got the pleasant-sounding lady on the phone on a hilarious conference with me which resulted in--wait for it--nothing. After a while I suggested that David (from Amazon) could work this out with Myrtle--or whatever her name was--(at Comfort Seat) and signed off. The next day, some Amazon robo-program sends me a note on David's behalf saying: "Thank you for your recent inquiry. Did I solve your problem?" What the?! After all, I hadn't received any resolution to be satisfied or dissatisfied with. I send a note back to that effect, and get an auto-response saying: "We didn't receive the e-mail message below because it was directed to an e-mail address that can't accept incoming messages. Please visit one of the pages below so we can quickly provide you with additional information or give assistance via e-mail or phone." Hello Kafka! Or Heller! Or someone! So, I let a few days go by, call Amazon back and a new functionary tells me I have to deal with the manufacturer for this warranty issue. Again: Ha ha. I explain the situation, then sit on hold for a while as she calls up the Comfort Seat Clown College. Finally, the happy ending: Amazon lady person comes back, tells me what I already know about Comfort Seat being...unhelpful..and tells me almost immediately that Amazon will take care of the problem itself, and agrees to overnight the replacement. In the long run, that means the toilet seat is lousy (but at least I'm getting a NEW lousy replacement), Comfort Seat is a lousy company to try to do business with as a consumer, and Amazon is to be commended for (eventually) stepping up and fixing the problem. In short: Buy anything else. For bonus points, please note that this seat is listed at more than $50, about $20 more than similar ones.

I have two of these toilet sets and they are great with one exception. The little plastic nut that fastens the seat to the toilet is brittle and has broken. Of course I can't find a replacement because there are apparently a bunch of different sizes depending on who the manufacturer is. I can buy replacement bolts with the nuts on them but can't use them because this toilet has the chrome hardware as part of the seat itself. If anyone has an idea where I can get replacements nuts (half dozen will do) please let me know. Next time I'm buying a toilet that allows the bolts to be replaced if the cheap nuts break. Both seats I bought have had the plastic nuts break and the only way I could get them useable again is to use Gorilla tape in thin strips wrapped around the cracked plastic nuts... Not sure why a good brass or stainless nut couldn't be included... or you could include a roll of Gorilla tape.

This proved to be the perfect seat for a toilet in an older bathroom, such as mine. My toilet is new, but with this seat, it looks well with the clawfoot tub and old cast iron sink. The toilet seat is heavy, not a flimsy thing. It is a simple, attractive design.

Upon moving, could not find this in the stores when I hunted around for it. Comfortable, well made, and the full chrome bar along the back looks great in my vintage bathroom. If you're considering the black color, it looks great but readily shows water droplets, smudges, etc. and requires frequent wipe downs. I bought the white one this time around.

You will receive a modern toilet seat that looks nothing like the cute vintage seat with the bar hinge. So disappointed. I could have bought the same ugly new seat at my local Walmart. As it is I ordered a new bumper set and bought some white paint to redo my old vintage seat.

After buying this particular toilet seat, I was amazed to receive a seat that was unusable. The bolts were manufactured incorrectly and would not work with the nuts. At first I thought it was just my lack of mechanical knowledge but after taking to a hardware store, they definitely confirmed it was basically unworkable and needed to be replaced. Perhaps this was just a mishap but it was the first time I had bought a toilet seat that would not work out of the box (with the correct size and measurements correct). Unfortunately I waited too long, which was my fault, to return the seat. Instead I went back to the hardware store and purchased a replacement. Beyond the bolts, the seat itself was of good quality and the chrome hinges worked well.
