Good Eco view of the reason for a Vegan Diet.

There are a number of reasons for moving into a Vegan Diet. Personally, I did it for health reasons motivated by Forks over Knives. However, once you get into the world of Veganism you find that it makes sense on a number of levels: Health, Health Care costs, Compassion for People, Compassion for Animals, Environmental impacts and personal spritual growth.

This book addresses the environmental impact of animal based diets. It s the elephant in the room. Changing light bulbs alone will not solve climate change. Switching to a vegan diet has a much bigger impact. Good read even if the enviornment was not your primary reason for going vegan.

Are you ready for the truth? If not, don't read this book. Because it will challenge you as it did me. If you want to live your life consciously and educate yourself, then read away. The affect of our eating animal products is laid out in such a poignant manner that it nettles the conscience to change or live without care for a world outside our little box of unawareness. Even if you don't care about others, at least, if you are a narcissist, you could focus on the health affects to the one body we are given. Then start from there, coming from one narcissist to the other. This is a top ten read of all-time and all books I have ever read. And yes, I have drank the cool-aid, but I will settle for a glass of Kombucha or fair-trade coffee. Organically produced thank you very much!

I am a serious conservationist and have a library on survival, respect and awareness of our beautiful blue planet. I highly recommend this book, specially for the young and more mature who are unaware of what is happening to us. It is quite repetitive, however, repetition is very necessary to nail it down into our hard heads.

After studying the food-health-environment-sustainability connection since 2002, I have concluded that Dr. Oppenlander knows more about that topic than anyone in the world. It's been his passion for forty years and, in this book, he provides a chilling summary of the "big picture" dilemma in which we find ourselves as a species. This book is all about global depletion and the ONLY viable way to reverse it---by replacing most of the world's animal-based calories with plant-based calories in the next few years. Sadly, the world's most prominent leaders are "comfortably unaware" of this world-changing information. My advice is BUY this book---READ this book---then get it in the hands of the most influential people you know. As Dr. T.
