I was really surprised by the quality of talent in this book. There are some really big names in here from the comedy and comedic arts world including a clever assortment of drawings based on a sketch by the late Harvey Pekar which is just really cool and well done. Although this book is a time capsule of a who's who in the comedy world, some of the lesser-known comics' drawings are probably some of my favorites. Additionally, there is a little background information about everyone in the book which I found informative as well (for example, some writers whose names I didn't know but really admire their work).
It must have been an amazing experience to meet all of these contributors and the writer usually has a little anecdotal tidbit about asking the comedian to draw "whatever they think is funny". There are even some photos of the comics actually drawing the comic that they submit which is a cool experience as you're looking at the drawing they're doing.
Some of the drawings are not suitable for children but the contributors are hard-working comedians who actually work the stage so I think that goes without saying.
This book is the perfect size to stick in your backpack or purse. I carry it around with me and enjoy flipping to a random page to see a new sketch. I would definitely like to see more of these in the future as it is a really cool and unique concept.
If you know anyone who is interested in stand-up comedy (or comedy in general) this would make a really excellent gift.
