Oh no, she wants the loyal daughter to just bend over and let the other two take a swift kick and she should then thank them. This hit to close to home for me to be objective. Then the ass that slept with her sister returns to town and wants to take up where they left off. So, she and her best friend hit the local bar, she gets smashed and winds up in his bed after he picks her up at the bar.
Ok, that was it for me. I have zero respect for this heroine! Good grief he sleeps with your sister and then 5 minutes after he shows up back in town you are willing to get drunk and wind up in his bed? OH NO SHE DIDN'T, but she did and the next morning he acts as though they are back together and all is well with the world. First of all, I have a problem with young women going to a bar, getting drunk on their butt and then picking up the first guy that looks at them. Immature idiots. This book definitely was not for me. I think it might appeal to a much younger set that sees this as a way of life rather than a problem.
The mother got on my last nerve. So typical though, no loyalty to the daughter that stood beside her but yet wants her to kiss and make up because she wants her daughters home and they are family. Well family certainly put the screws to her.
There was another strange thing with this download. It downloaded with half the pages highlighted and then there would be a regular page then more highlighted. It was hard for me to read. I even had a guy check it to see what was wrong and he was completely stumped. I'm sure this was probably an Amazon thing but no need to fix as I don't intend to read any more.
The crowning blow was in reading other reviews they stated there was an "abrupt ending". Nice way to say CLIFFHANGER. That is a big problem for me as well. So, I'm going to move on from this one. If you are on the fence deciding whether to get or not, I would suggest you just get it and decide for yourself. My issues certainly may not be yours.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
I also don't care much for closed door sex scenes (I mention this only for readers like me who want a little more spice), but that didn't deter me, either. The problem was I really didn't like the heroine, Jessie. She was too brash, too in-your-face, and extremely immature. I'm not sure why Cade would like her at all. The side plot of her sister's stalker was too distracting, as was the bar scene with her friend April (also very immature). Character development is very important to me. I want to like the main characters, but I didn't feel Jessie had many redeeming qualities, especially when she was yelling at her sisters and mother all the time. I also had a hard time swallowing some of the touristy references. I live in one of these small towns that deals with snowmobilers and skiers all the time, and this story wasn't quite realistic (it's fiction, yadda, yadda... still needs to be realistic). To be fair, I loved the scene where Cade hired a horse-drawn sleigh for a date with Jessie.
That being said, this wasn't the worst book I've ever read, and if this was the author's debut novel, she has potential as a writer. I like the concept of the three sisters coming together after years spent in angry silence because of a family crisis. The story just needs a little more depth and a lot more showing vs. telling. I plan on reading the next one in this series because I really liked Jessie's sister, Wynn, and since that's the next book, I'm willing to give the author another chance.
