So far everything is in place and working fine. I feel so smart and organized!
we tried many other solutions all failed ...this was brilliant. Yes $7 is a little steep. But it's new product price will likely come down when more are sold. If it drives you bats because your cane flops down...skip Starbucks and shell out the $7.
I tried to use one to hang up my aluminum snow shovel but the diameter of the handle was too big for the gripper unfortunately. Shovel might have been too heavy too? Specs say: will hold up to 4 lbs and 0.8-1.0" handles. Not sure what a 0.8-1.0" handle is. My cane measures 3.5" around and weighs a little more than 1 lb. The kitchen broom handle measures 2.85" around (OD?) and weighs about a pound too.
The grey gripper part is a rubber material that flexes out ready for you to push in your broom/mop/etc handle. As you push towards the wall, the rubber flexes back in while gripping the handle and holds it there. Bought two of these - one for a swiffer and one for a small lightweight vacuum/handvac. Regarding the latter, I was only hoping. It only weighs a few pounds, but that was a few pounds too much. Within a couple days I found the vacuum off the wall and on the floor with the gripper still gripping. Granted, it's not advertising that. For what it is, it does a great job.
When removing the broom, there is a pleasing tendency for the broom to almost "pop out" of the holder. Conversely it is "drawn in" when putting the broom back. Operation is silent. The broom is retained some distance away from the wall so your knuckles don't hit the wall when putting back the broom. I didn't trust the sticky mounting material so drilling a couple of holes in the drill-friendly plastic (no tendency to crack) allowed for a secure screw-mount.
Hint. If using on the back of a door, place the command holder somewhat toward the middle of the handle instead of at the top. This will help prevent swinging when you open and close the door. I haven't had an issue with items sliding but if I do I'll wrap a rubber band around the handle.
