I purchased literally hundreds and hundreds of these Command clear mini hooks prior to a garage sale. I wanted an easy way to display jewelry that would keep it from being a tangled mess. As you can see from my photos, I had a LOT of jewelry to display and while I don't really have a purpose in my life to own quite this many Command hooks, I figured I could always use at least a few around the holidays to hang lights and lightweight decorations.
Sadly, my experience with the hooks, or rather the Command adhesive strips was very hit or miss, with about half of the hooks I purchased having terrible adhesive strips that the paper wouldn't peel away from or had little to no ability to actually stick to anything.
The other half were fine. The adhesive strips were strong and held as they should and I expected. In order to complete my jewelry display board, I had to run out at the last minute and buy every package of small Command strip refills that I could find. With my display board being white, I found the "normal," slightly thicker, white foam-feeling adhesive strip refills to work far better than the original super-thin clear strips.
It should be noted that I used a brand new, smooth white wall panel that I thoroughly wiped down with rubbing alcohol before beginning this project. There was absolutely no reason for the adhesive strips to fail, as I wouldn't expect them to perform nearly as well on a rough or uneven surface, so I can only guess that I received some older stock or stock that hadn't been stored properly and had degraded with temperature extremes.
I was quite disappointed as my previous experiences with Command hook products had been nothing but positive, but for this one, caveat emptor!
