The story is predictable and feels like it has been told many times before, but the sex scenes are graphic and steamy. Even though this book has a cliffhanger ending, I probably won't continue with the series.
The book starts our really well with an interesting start that grabs you. Unfortunately thereafter it becomes a bit predictable and a bit repetitive. The main protagonist Clara was supposed to be a smart girl but that, she was not. I found myself rolling my eyes at her and waiting for her to grow a spine. The male protagonist was a selfish ass and his answer to life was sex. There were lots of steamy pages and they were well written and enticing but they became overkill. Too much of a good thing can become boring and I found myself flicking through the pages looking for the actual story. This story could have been awesome but unfortunately is just lost its way a bit. So let me tell you about the story. Clara meets Alexander and he kisses her to avoid an ex-girlfriend. She seems to think she knows him but can’t place him. The next morning the paper explains that he is the prince and so the royal saga begins. The tabloids are set to destroy Clara by hanging her dirty washing out to air. He promises to protect her but alas he only does sexual relationships, and not long term. He also promises her he will hurt her. Yep our heroine is still good with this. He is controlling and dominant and yet he is weak where is father is concerned. In fact I found him to be a privileged brat. He sent mixed signals and I wondered if he suffered from multiple personalities. When Daddy dearest, the King, interferes I thought our boy would step up to the plate and fight for his lady, but no he sold her out and then offers her an ulterior proposition and finally our heroine stands up for herself.
So as you can see there is a great plot here. The writing was good and flowed. I think the characters were lacking and the story just needed more story. I did not connect with the characters. I am hoping that book 2 will save this story and that our Heroine starts standing up for herself more.
