Story of Clara and Alexander. She's just graduated from Oxford. She's American AND British, but has chosen British citizenry but she has an American accent. He's a guy she meets at a party and kisses... and then it's plastered all over the tabloids because he's THE prince... the one in line to inherit the throne and Clara had no idea. Which might be believable had she just arrived from the US, but she's been in the UK for some time and didn't recognize him? So this is the story of the two of them.
There are hints throughout that there might be BDSM involved, but really it's more lite-D/s and more like really intense sexual encounters. They apparently has no self control when it comes to each other. She's trashed in the tabs and he's realizing that she means more to him than he intended, but he can't stay away.... I've read this before.
Unfortunately the characterizations of the royals are trite. While I don't mind that the author still uses the British monarchy for her characters (I mean, it's FICTION), they're pretty shallow, except for Alexander.... but he's a cliche too. Unoriginality abounds... bitchy aristocracy, prejudiced snobs, agreeing to whatever the tabloids publish... I feel like I've read this before.
The C-word is used a lot... and I read lots of British authors who use this word instead of the P-word... apparently this is standard practice. This can be difficult to read for some people. Just a warning, peeps.
The story is predictable and feels like it has been told many times before, but the sex scenes are graphic and steamy. Even though this book has a cliffhanger ending, I probably won't continue with the series.
