When used properly, these are the best! I've made every mistake before getting the hang of using them. The first time I pulled a command strip, I ripped paint off the wall by not pulling them straight down to almost a foot long. I've put them on walls that have been painted a week before and when taking them down, removed that layer of paint (the say wait 7 days, but you really need to wait a month to get well established paint). But since them I've used the command strips successfully time and time again. I've even also reused the velcro part with regular command strips without a problem.
Untill... my pictures started to fall off the walls. In a 3 week period, several pictures that I had hung over the course of the previous year all fell off the wall. Two pictures fell without damage, but the glass broke on the third, which I'll now need to get repaired.
These were not freshly painted walls, and the pictures were all well under the weight that the strips should have been able to handle. Because all the pictures started to fall (in different rooms) during a relatively short period of time, I'm thinking it was either due to a change in humidity affecting the adhesive (it has been 60% recently, compared to 35%-ish normally here in Central Texas), or perhaps changes in weather have caused my house to shift, although that seems less likely.
I'm extremely disappointed because I really thought these strips were the perfect solution to hanging pictures until my pictures started to fall off.
I used a set of them yesterday to hang the print of the painting and couldn't be more pleased. Also, removing the painting to readjust the alignment was easy and it stayed secure to the wall. I'll be buying these instead of the older style command strips in the future...and I'll be buying more of these for sure as I get more art and other things to hang on my walls.
DO NOT use with wallpaper. May not adhere to well to vinyl surfaces.
DO NOT use for antiques, heirlooms, or other valuable or irreplaceable items.
DO NOT hang items over beds.
That really says it all, doesn't it? Don't hang anything of value and don't hang it in a place that will hurt if it falls on your head.
These are easy to install and work great for collage-type projects, as you have the ability to place photos in an exact location. We have used them for things like smoke detectors, canvas art and smaller pictures. So far, they have worked well. It is very important that you follow the installation instructions. Be patient; make sure you wait the allotted 30 minutes before hanging your items. I usually wait longer, just to be on the safe side. The hanging strips come off cleanly and easily.
Keep in mind when you are ordering these, the recommended usage for picture sizes are as follows:
Small Strips: 1 set for a 3x5, 2 sets for a 5 x 7 and 4 sets for an 8 x 10.
Medium Strips: 1 set for an 8 x 10, 2 sets for an 11 x 17 and 4 sets for an 18 x 20.
I, personally, have never hung anything with only 1 strip; I've always used at least two.
This package has 4 sets of small strips and 8 sets of medium strips. I'll let you do the math to figure out how much this will hang.

One word of advice: read the instruction before on how to remove them. You have to pull the part sticking on the wall sideways as indicated by the arrow. If you pull too hard on the velcro, then you can cause the wall paint to come off, so be a bit careful when taking things off...
The reason I am giving this specific Item 1 Star, is because they cannot be genuine Command Strips, they have to be fakes.
The reason being, the backing will not peel off, so that they can be stuck to the item you are hanging. If you forcibly remove the backing, the glue just removes itself from the plastic velcro strip. completely unusable.
I bought 3 packs from this seller, and every strip in all three packs had the same issue. I had a 4th Pack that I bought from my local shop, and they worked perfectly, as intended.
Unless I was very unlucky and got a bad batch with all 3 packs, I dont know. But all of them had to be put in the bin as they were unusable.
We actually use these for a range of different items, but just recently to secure Fire/Smoke alarms to ceilings (2 medium size strips on each surface). Have had one alarm in place for over 2 years and just installed another. Never had a problem with it falling down and simple to remove for testing or redecorating. Just make sure you hear that full range of 'clicking' sound when you press the strips together, otherwise they may not be totally secure.
Whilst you don't get a totally 'flush' finish when using these (because of their thickness) we find that these 'Picture Hanging' strips to be far more reliable than the double sided sticky strip variety that Command also make.
Small strips are 15mm wide x 35mm long (not including 'tabs')
Medium strips are 19mm wide x 50mm long (not including 'tabs')
Highly recommended - especially for lightweight items.
One tip : Like me, you may come across that irresistible temptation to repeatedly press together and pull apart the strips. It's a similar satisfaction to that of popping bubble wrap! .......However, beware in doing so. I have a strong suspicion that this will actually weaken the integrity of the tiny plastic 'hooks' that these strips have.
In total I have about 40 frames hung with Command Picture Hanging Strips, some have been up for about 5 or 6 years and some just a few weeks. I've never had any problems sticking anything up, they're very straightforward to use, and I've never had a single frame fall in all those years. Even some that were stuck on paint that looked a little flaky!
The largest frame that I've used these on is 3ft x 4ft (90cm x 120cm) which has now been in place for about 4 years with issues.
As you can probably tell from the photos too, we regularly add pieces to our collection and have to reshuffle our salon-hang style walls. The command strips peel off really easily with no residue and never taking any paint with them, then it's just a case of re-sticking what you want where you want. No drilling holes or filling in old ones with plaster than trying to match the paint accurately after it's subtly faded. In fact even when I do buy place in the near future, I'll be sticking to using these to hang artwork rather than filling my walls full of holes.
