The idea for Commando Lock came when as a 3rd generation American manufacturer, Patrick Smith took a progressive stamping process that he and his father used for the automotive industry and applied it to padlocks. This was immediately disruptive to how padlocks were traditionally made.

Locks could be manufactured with aerospace tolerances which resulted in greater strength and efficiency as they came from a single piece of metal. Commando had changed the game. Extra security was added to the locks – Pat worked with professional lock pickers to make them more pick and bump resistant. Patents followed for an interchangeable shackle solution. Commando quickly became known as high quality, hard to pick lock brand.

The Commando Lock Marine 3000 locks feature our Solidbody Tek construction: an interlocked and riveted body design that’s stronger than conventional locks. Compliant with US Military standards for safety and construction, these locks are ideal for all security uses. With lead free brass, Commando Locks can handle much more than your average wear and tear. Chamfered rivet holes prevent the lock from fracturing when they're chiseled and our boron-alloy shackle is far more cut-resistant than your average steel. Additionally, the UV-resistant polypropylene bumpers will not scratch or mark your valuables. All Commando locks come with a pick and bump resistant security pin system that can feature up to 10 security pins, and Commando locks are key responsible - meaning the key stays in the lock until fully locked or open 180 degrees.
