Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Revelation is one of the most difficult, widely argued book of the Bible.

However Bullinger, an untiring scholar of God’s word, treats Revelation not as a work to be interpreted by man, but as God’s own interpretation of the future to us. Bullinger’s vast knowledge of the Scriptures, his unique grasp of history, and his unusual interpretative ability will challenge you to rethink your views of interpretation.

Refreshing in its literal acceptance of God’s Word, this commentary is not merely a warmed over version of other men’s views. Bullinger looks at every verse and devotes major discussions to key debated issues in the book of Revelation.

E. W. Bullinger (1837–1913) was a direct descendant of Johann H. Bullinger, the Swiss reformer. Bullinger was a lifelong scholar and writer studying at King’s College, London. In 1862 he was ordained in the Church of England. He is also the author of the notes and appendixes of The Companion Bible and the author of numerous works including Commentary on Revelation, Great Cloud of Witnesses, How to Enjoy the Bible, and Number in Scripture.

... then this volume will disappoint you. I actually think the work was completed after Bullinger's homegoing.

In my opinion, Bullinger's hyperdispensationalism kept him from making remarkable insights into the Revelation that are on a par with his most excellent insights elsewhere.

If you have painstakingly reviewed the marvelous scholarship of Bullinger (and his team?) is piecing together the timelines of the captivity, your expectations of his work in the Revelation willl be sky-high as mine was.

So, while it is still an epic work of substantial value, it's just not quite up to the pinnacle of scholarship that is EWB.

That being said: of course buy it. Trade in a couple thousand copies of "purpose driven trash" for it.

Bullingers Commentary on Revelation removes all doubt and fears concerning the Church of God the body of believers who are born again and have done God's will which is to believe in His Son Jesus Christ and believe that God raised Him from the dead ,that they will not enter into tribulation or see God's wrath. The mystery kept secret since the world began and was revealed to Paul, Christ IN you The Hope of Glory..
We live in the Grace Administration now and Christ will come for His body of believers first and then comes the Tribulation. So many people think tribulation is now, they have not seen any tribulation yet! These are the good times full of Grace and Truth.
Excellent book by Bullinger

Ethelbert Bullinger's Commentary on Revelation is absolutely magnificent!

Ethelbert Bullinger's commentary has enabled me to understand and appreciate the marvelous message of Revelation, for the first time in my life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding the book of Revelation, and I strongly recommend this book to all serious students of the Scripture.

It is thoroughly researched, the reasoning is compelling, and Bullinger is clearly eminently qualified to instruct about this important matter.

It is brilliant

Very well done, Mr. Buillinger.

E.W. Bullinger has been dead for almost one hundred years, but his outstanding contributions to biblical scholarship and love for the brethren are as always found in his books, booklets etc. I recommend this publisher as well as The Open Bible Trust, Bible Search Publications, Inc. (which is the US publisher for The Open Bible Trust), and Kregel Classics, when you are beginning to read and enjoy studying the Word of God. Beware of buying another publisher not listed here and who changes what E. W. Bullinger wrote. The Open Bible Trust states in their reprints for this author what alterations they made. The one to beware of doesn't and you will be thinking you are reading E.W. Bullinger but you aren't you are reading what a new author wants to say under his name. E.W. Bullinger's works speak for themselves and every Bible Student stands to be blessed. I bought and read the "beware of" publisher's work a few of them and threw them away.

This is a commentary by using the original written languages (Hebrew & Greek) to better understand the use of the original word. Every language has nuances, similes, puns, regional meanings and etc. Over time many words take on new meanings. This appears to look at the first usage of words in the original language. The commentary often does repeat itself, but usually as an additional or broader or additive - making a "bigger picture." However, due to the scholarly thesis, it probably should be considered a much advanced study of the Book of Revelation. For those of you who want more "meat" of the matter, this would certainly be a good addition to your studies.

The book is brilliant. I have read numerous commentaries on the Revelation but none come near to the truth that this one reveals. All serious readers of the Bible should have it. But prepare to be surprised and amazed, your preconcieved ideas might get shattered.

This book is so interesting, I'm learning things from a different preceptive. This book makes one think and marvel at how wonderful our God is in the mysteries of His book.

Surprising how accurate many of his comments were, despite being made at the beginning of the last century. As with all things, it should be read with a filter of the scriptures, but with that said, I found much to consider in his comments.
