About the Author
Carl is a third generation real estate agent with over 25 years personal experience. He's seen how the traditional commission-driven industry works - creating one of the least trusted industries in the world, with fees that are totally disconnected from the value the industry provides to it's clients. He is on a mission to fix it, and had pioneered a completely new approach that's raising professionalism and helping clients bank significantly more from the sale of their home. "I had that feeling I don’t belong here. This is not my tribe. It’s not who I want to be and it’s certainly not how I want my business to be. I couldn’t get out of that typical real estate industry conference quick enough. That was the tipping point - when I finally decided to stop trying to fit in with the establishment and instead stand up for my own convictions. The very next week I started the process of building a totally new model for the real estate industry. One that is ultimately better for you, our clients, and therefore also us. Looking back, my entire career had been leading to this. Right from the outset I never really fitted the sales culture. I saw how it puts its own interests above those of the client and I wanted to positively change it. I remember how my grandfather and father did business on a handshake – times when your word was your bond. I believe those types of values need to be put back in front of this industry’s thirst for commission. Over the years I voiced those beliefs. You could say this made me a bit of a rebel, even an outcast. I must admit, there have been times when I was totally disillusioned with how the industry works – feeling like I was losing the battle to make any difference. But rather than leave, I suppose stubbornly, I chose to stay and try to find a way to make the industry fit with my own character. It’s been a 25-year journey of trial and error, success and failure, rebuilding, then rebuilding again. In hindsight, I can’t believe it took me so long to put the puzzle together. Those elusive last few pieces, the ones that make it all work, were hiding in plain sight – they just required me to look through a different lens.
