Pinch and Darrow always had an on and off relationship since they were young.
Now they both agree that their relationship is over and Darrow disappears again. No one knows where she is, well some do but they are keeping it under wraps.

Esland is Darrow's best friend and she's concerned that she has no idea where Darrow is and needs help. And Darrow told her that if she ever needed help and she wasn't available to to see Pinch.

So she decides to go the the pub where most of the MI6 and MI6 agents go and sees Pinch sitting inside. She goes up to him but immediately sees Wren and Wilder and starts asking questions (it's the reporter in her). But Pinch isn't having it and sends her on her merry way by picking her up, throwing her over his shoulder and depositing her outside the pub and tells her to stay out.

She never got a chance to even ask him for his help so she heads home only to see someone has broken into her apartment. Not knowing what to do she heads back to the pub. This time she gets Pinch to listen to her.

He dispatches agents to her apartment and after trying to find out what is going on decides he will protect her even though she is not forthcoming about what is really going on.

It doesn't help that he's falling hard and fast for her. She on the other hand has loved him for a very long time and her friendship with Darrow is holding her back.

Plenty of suspense, intrigue and lots of twists and turns in this book and there are also members of the K19 crew that come into to assist.

The end was a big surprise for me. Another great read,

This is the second book I've read by Heather Slade. I still love that regency feel in a modern day world. My heart is divided with the direction that the author is taking the characters though. I thought Shiver would be my favorite hero, but Wilder has won out. I absolutely loved his and Wren's story. I look forward to reading the next book!

The Commoner and the Correspondent is book 3 in the Royal Agents of MI6 by Heather Slade and she has filled the book with suspense, intrigue and steamy romance!

Esland “Ezzie” and Darrow have been childhood best friends and were always around Darrow’s brothers and Axel the groundskeeper’s son. Esland has always had feelings for Axel “Pinch”, but Darrow and he were an on again-off again relationship. Now Darrow and Pinch have finally called it quits and are moving on...Darrow has told Esland if she ever finds herself in any trouble she can trust Pinch to help her. Esland, a reporter for the Times finds herself in big trouble and goes to Pinch for help...what happens next will keep you on the edge of your seat and pulling for Ezzie and Pinch to figure out the mess and find out that sometimes love is right in front of you but you just don’t see it!

Diaries from her mother, doping, sexual abuse, family trust fund, kidnapping, twists, turns, suspense and a crooked MI 6 agent all rolled into another great book by Heather Slade. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!!

Esland is not just an annoying reporter for Pinch and the others but also one of Darrow's best friends so when she comes to Pinch in distress something unexpected happens and the need to protector her kicks in which could be at a detriment to the job he is on track for and want's. The push pull between Esland and Pinch leads to many a frustrating time, but the attraction is undeniable so when secrets start to come out there are plenty of emotions to go through which are then exasperated by the danger Esland as they try to work out who is after her and why. There are times when you don't know who to trust as well as hard decisions needing to be made, shocking twists and a love story that is going to take a lot of work in order to survive everything thrown at them and get the HEA they both deserve!!

Enemies to Lovers Romantic Suspense

This is Book 3 in the Royal Agents of MI6 Series and my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters.. It is an enemies to lovers romance between reporter Esland and British spy Axel. These flawed characters are likeable, the connection strong, the chemistry combustible, and the unique plot makes for an intriguing read. It is a slow burn love story with drama and suspense, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A page turner with a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.
