The book is well-written. The questions following the cases fit the material well. My professor made some handouts to go over some of the information better, and I think the casebook could do a more clear breakdown of 2581 title presumptions changes between 1965 and 1987 and of the married woman's presumption. Overall, very good casebook.

Unfortunately this book is not clear enough to be a good casebook. Many cases are no longer good law and instead of making this clear upfront, the author often only hints at it. Quite confusing. Black letter law is almost never explained clearly (but of course this is a common flaw in all too many casebooks). If you are forced to use this book, I would strongly recommend also getting Examples and Explanations "California Community Property" by Charlotte Goldberg, which has excellent explanations of the law and the cases.

Meh. I'd wish the author lay out some framework before giving us that abomination that is Lucas and Anti-Lucas.
