While the ideas in this book are useful for anyone looking to start a community around a brand or a product etc. I am surprised to see that the book is full of spelling/grammar/capitalization errors. Ideas in the book are also somewhat disorganized and some concepts aren't clearly explained ahead of time. Clearly the draft could have benefited from some serious editing. Errors like not starting sentences with capitalized words or having incomplete sentences with missing verbs are downright unacceptable in an era where editing services have become a thing. Knowing that there are a legion of services that does exactly this, I am baffled as to why the author has not considered this option. One gets the feeling of reading a friend's hastily jotted notes. For the next revision, I highly recommend that the author considers this.

Zack Miller gets it completely right! Building a vibrant start-up community is not something that can be driven from the top-down, but rather from within. It does not take “pro-forma”, tried and tired mechanisms that merely wither away and die when they are no longer fashionable, but rather a holistic approach that brings together like minded people and entities who see the vision and “buy in” on an continual basis. The author does a wonderful job spelling out what it takes to organically grow a community. He provides some useful insight from personal experiences, and gives the reader a utility of information. This book is a quick read but jam packed with information. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking to grow a community, big or small.

This book is a great take on how start-ups operate and succeed in communities. The author uses his own personal successes and research of community development in other areas. It serves as a how-to guide, a great insight piece, and an interesting read in general. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to develop start-ups in their community!

Good read on how to develop a community - speaks specifically about building a tech community, but the principles can be applied to any group/organization setting. The author uses several case studies from small & large businesses and economic development groups. Great insights for any leader who wants to be a better manager, planner, and organizer.
