Ooopsie! Needed to replace the black cartridge right away, so when the package arrived, I popped open the printer, removed the old cartridge, and opened the new black cartridge bag. Before putting the new one in, I pulled the yellow tab as instructed, and black ink (dark purple, actually) POURED out of it, gushed everywhere--all over the cartridge, all over my hands, and fortunately, I was quick enough to get my hands completely underneath it to save the carpet! Got it to the bathroom sink and wrapped it in paper towels until it finally stopped leaking (soaked up a half dozen paper towels in the process). When it finally stopped, and I could hold the cartridge upright without any more leaking, I dried it off and installed it--seems to be working fine, but be careful and have paper towels to the ready when you pull off the yellow tab--and be prepared to walk around with purple hands for a while...

Got this set not quite knowing what to expect from getting ink from a 3rd party supplier, but the price blew the OEM price out of the water for the quantity you got, and since it's for a home printer I was OK taking the risk. I haven't seen any degradation in print quality since the ink change, and it seems to be going through about the same amount as with the OEM (so not running out any faster with the same workload). I'm pleased I'm not going to have to worry about getting ink for some time.
For some observations I've had on this: the actual cartridge looks like either it was refurbished from older ones or possibly a generic mold used with the connector made for the printer. I'm guessing that the ink is injected after everything is put together and some tape is put over the hole they use. I didn't have any leaks or anything with the cartridges that I got and doesn't appear to have anything wrong with the cartridges still in the packaging, but I could see some people maybe having this issue if the tape gets uncovered.
Summary: very happy with the purchase, and will buy again if available once this set runs out (though with the multiple cartridges that you get, it may be awhile).

Previously, I didn't do a lot of printing directly because of the cost of the replacement ink cartridges, but these have removed that limitation! I saw a lot of positive reviews and couldn't resist trying them with their low cost and Amazon Prime availability. I found a Brother printer (MFC-J430W) on sale that uses these cartridges and purchased it immediately. I'm very glad I did! The Brother printer I purchased (MFC-J430W) was on sale for $69.00, which is about equal to the cost of 1 set of replacement cartridges for the HP printer I had before this one (I tried generic replacement cartridges for the HP, but they still cost about $30 for 1 and 2 color cartridges didn't work on my HP printer). The first pack I bought was the 10 pack, but as soon as I saw how well they worked, I ordered 2 of these 20 pack sets. It's very nice to be able to print again without the worry of paying $69.00 for replacement cartridges. I told my father about these cartridges and showed him a few photos I had printed using the Brother printer with these cartridges and he immediately decided to replace his HP with a Brother printer as well. I'll continue using these cartridges as long as they're available!
UPDATE:
These cartridges started out great, but I noticed the cyan colors were missing from a couple printouts. The cartridge still showed full, but no blue ink was coming out. I replaced the cartridge and still no blue ink showing. I also noticed the yellow was not working very well either. I thought the cartridges were a flop, but then I noticed the ink cartridge cleaning option on the printer. It ran 1 cleaning process, taking about a minute, and all the colors were back and beautiful! I've printed over 100 photos of different sizes (from full page to wallet size prints) and I am still using the original black ink that came with the printer. I've gone through the color cartridges that came with the printer, but am still on the 1st set of these replacement cartridges. I've had to run 1 additional cleaning process to keep all the colors printing clearly. Personally, if running an occasional cleaning process, which is simply done by pressing a button on the printer, is the biggest negative that comes with the amazing price of these cartridges, I'm happy to accept that. Also, Brother would not have put the cleaning ability into the printers if their own ink didn't have similar issues. I'm very happy with these replacement cartridges and I hope Amazon continues selling them.
FINAL UPDATE:
I hadn't printed anything for a few days and decided to test the cartridges before printing something to see if they needed cleaning. I noticed the cyan was spotty in the test print. I assumed that it just needed the cleaning again. I started the cleaning process again. The first time, there was about 50% of the cyan section filled, but it had a green appearance as if it was mixing with the yellow ink. I attempted another cleaning process and the printout from that had very little ink at all coming from the cyan cartridge. I tried a third cleaning process and it had almost no ink on the paper. And, after 4 cleaning processes, there was no cyan ink coming out of the printer. I changed the cartridge and had a similar set of events except it only took 2 cleaning processes to confirm the cyan was dead.
Since I specifically purchased this printer to work with this ink, I'm not sure if the problem was solely due to the ink. I find it odd that the Brother website suggests using the cleaning process 5 times before contacting them about a problem with the ink, as if there is a known problem with the printer heads clogging. I'm going to try a few other things to ensure there is no way to save the printer, but I think the printer is done. I got a lot of pictures printed in good quality with this ink/printer combo, it's just too bad that it ended after such a short time.

These are inexpensive, generic ink cartridges for an inexpensive, but useful printer. Brother has long been a favorite brand of mine. Their products may not be the easiest to use, but they great quality for the price. However, like all inkjet printers, they require outrageously expensive ink. Although the ink is expensive, you can usually count on the ink being of good quality (for printing) and that the cartridges themselves will not leak of cause damage to your printer.
These are not OEM quality cartridges. The ink is of noticeably poorer quality than the OEM brother cartridges. If you print to identical pages out side by side (especially in color), you will find these cartridges to look noticeably worse. The colors are not as vivid and the black is dull.
Worst of all, these cartridges will leak.
One night, I was getting ready to go to a concert. This my particular model printer is airplay compatible so I sent my tickets to be printed via airprint. Normally, this has never been a problem. I print my tickets, I swing by my printer on the way out and pick up the tickets. This was unfortunately not the case that night. I noticed that the black in the tickets was coming out streaky and incomplete. I tried printing again and had the same issue. The printer did not indicate that there was low black ink, but I decided to check anyways. When I opened up the printer and pulled out the black cartridge, I found that it had leaked all over the inside of the printer. I also found that my hands were not covered in black ink . This was not a good course of events while on the way out the door to a concert.
I would not purchase these again, they are simply not worth the discounted price over the OEM brother cartridges.
