John C. Maxwell and his team cherry-picked the essentials in subjects such as leadership, attitude, relationships, teamwork, and mentoring and put them in an easy to read format. The 101 series helped more than one million readers to become better leaders. Now, all 6 titles have been combined into The Complete 101 Collection. A solid 8-10 hours reading can't make a leader out of anyone.
Attitude 101 deals with the formation and impact of attitude. Failure, success and the differences between attitude and character. Admit wrongdoings and forgiveness are important. Having the right attitude to lead, serve and enable growth is core to leadership. Each of us is created uniquely and performs differently, and should be treated as such.
Self-improvement 101 continues building your own leadership traits, before Leadership 101 concentrates on the ones to lead. You can lead, learn how to. Relationships 101 deals with the importance of relationships in every leadership setting. Success 101 focuses on the different perspectives on success and the generic principles to gain success and learn from failures. Teamwork 101, Equipping 101, and Mentoring 101 continue to highlight team formation, equipping people as a leader, and various mentoring possibilities to help your team grow, leave a lasting effect on the team, celebrate successes and develop new leaders during the journey.
John C. Maxwell has a typical writing style. Quotations and examples from other lives make up more than 90 percent of the content. And while his own professional leadership positions are in Christian church settings, you may expect a portion of Christianity injected as well. Leading a organization of volunteers, like a church is more difficult than a regular organization.

This book is all things to all men on Management and Leadership from John Maxwell.

It is a collection of previously written books.

So, there is nothing new here, but it is worth the price if you are going to read more than three of Maxwell's books.

John Maxwell, a top keynote speaker, leadership expert, and pastor, has recently re-edited and repackaged a series of leadership minibooks into one combined bundle: The Complete 101 Collection. Who is this book for, and why might you want to have it on your bookshelf? Let’s find out.

WHAT’S INSIDE?

The Complete 101 Collection by Maxwell is written in an essay-like format that mirrors several other books written by our author, which is the “101” series of books. The 101 series includes short, pick-up-able works focused on one overarching topic, including subjects like attitude, leadership, success, teamwork, or mentoring. Each of the chapters in The Complete 101 Collection is a summary of each of these books, and so the chapters contain already-published revised content.

MAXWELL’S STYLE

It seems a little presumptuous to review a Maxwell book—in terms of content, it’s classic high-quality, timely information that’s similar in style and form to other Maxwellian literature. In short, it’s awesome. As someone who listens to Ziglar at least once a week, I find some of the empowering and inspirational material in this book a soothing refreshment compared to some of the other more academic topics, including I/O psych and organizational development.

Just a few thoughts if you’re not familiar with our author. When reading Maxwell, you know that you’ll have good quotes to add to a Moleskine, but you probably won’t find primary sources and research in terms of social science. That’s okay, because that’s not the vein Maxwell runs in. Also, if you’re turned off by “self-help” styles of books, this may not be for you.

Leadership. If football coach Lou Holtz wrote the playbook for how to develop an impeccable college team, then John C. Maxwell should be credited with writing the play book for how to develop impeccable leadership potential into straight up leadership awesome. Over the past twelve years, Maxwell published a series of books on different aspects of leadership (attitude, self-improvement, leadership, relationships, success, teamwork, equipping, and mentoring), each titled that trait with "101" after it. All eight of the titles have been collected in one cover, and the book is called The Complete 101 Collection.

I enjoy reading what Maxwell has to say. His works are some of the very few where I can say with honesty that the writing style almost makes up for the fact that he is not present speaking to you. The key points in his works are phrased in a way that the ideas can connect with any reader avid to the topic. This is exactly what you get regarding this book. When Maxwell discusses the importance for maintaining a positive attitude, his word choice conveys this necessity and you can detect the enthusiasm in his "voice." When he talks about how one achieves success, the reader feels like Maxwell has been there many times before. As he describes the necessity to mentor others, the reader feels as if he or she is being taken under Maxwell's wing, and realizes that is what Maxwell has been doing all along.

Having read most of the 101 series before, the big thing I appreciated about The Complete 101 Collection is that the book is organized not by chronological publication date, but by how well the subjects of the books logically flow into one another.
