Great Guide for Planning your Eclipse "Chase"

Great book to get you excited about the 2024 eclipse and get started with your viewing plans. If you experienced the eclipse of 2017, the book makes interesting comparisons to that one, pointing out that the 2024 eclipse will be longer, darker, and along a wider, more populated path. There's a little bit of science and safety about eclipses and but would say this is mostly a guide for PLANNING! The author gives his recommendations on many places in the various US States as well as Mexico and Canada that would be interesting viewing places and gives details on each one as to what makes it desireable. Many links are included throughout, as well as useful maps for weather, cloud cover and driving. I thought I had my mind made up of where I would view from, but after reading the book, there's a few more places I want to research more. There are so many good suggestions, I wish I could go to them all!

After the 2017 Eclipse I vowed to get to as many as I could. I have been looking forward to the April 8, 2024 Eclipse ever since. This book has only added to my excitement. Being in NY getting to the center line for the most totality is doable, but I have been concerned about the weather. The chapters on where to see the eclipse have been very interesting and helpful, and they may have changed my mind about traveling somewhere else to avoid any weather related issues. Easy read, great info!

In all my times trying to follow solar eclipses around the world using international news broadcasts, I have come to the opinion that the more detail a news channel has the better their planning can be. This book takes that idea to the next level with research on all the elements needed to make watching a solar eclipse as enjoyable as it should be. Will it be dry? Will it be sunny? How do you get to the best places? My only regret is that coming from the United Kingdom, our next total eclipse is not until 2090 and even then it is likely to be overcast!
