A few signs to start with:
Pat your thigh a few times.
Memory tip: It’s like you’re calling a dog to come to you.
When to use the sign: Sign DOG when your pet is within sight. If you don’t have a dog, sign DOG when you see one in the neighborhood or when visiting friends or family with one. You’ll also find lots of dogs in children’s books!
Start with a C handshape in front of your throat and move it down over your chest.
Memory tip: It’s like you’re moving the food you want from your throat to your belly.
When to use the sign: As you are preparing food for your hungry baby, ask, “Are you HUNGRY? You seem really HUNGRY! I’m making some FOOD (same sign as EAT, page 16) for you!”
Cross your arms over your chest and give a little squeeze.
Memory tip: It’s like you’re giving yourself a hug.
When to use the sign: You can sign LOVE to express your love for your child or to indicate that you are feeling loved by her. When your child is hugging her favorite blanket or stuffed toy, you can say, “Oh, you LOVE that so much!”
“Lane continues to amaze me with her ability to connect with such a wide audience―parents, caregivers, and educators―to help little ones communicate through signs before they can even utter spoken words! Detail oriented and organized perfectly to match the needs of a growing baby, this book teaches through day-to-day activities, songs, and popular children’s books. This is a must-have on baby registries and perfect for anyone working with children.”―Ella Owens, M.S., CCC-SLP, CAGS-ASD
“Even if you are brand new to sign language, Lane Rebelo's clear descriptions and joy-filled tips for memorizing will make it easy for you to learn and implement the most useful signs with your child right away! It's not just for fun; sign language bolsters social-emotional skills, strengthens the intellect, and gives your little one essential nonverbal communication strategies that will make those toddler years much easier for you both.”―Aubrey Hargis, author of Baby's First Year Milestones and Toddler Discipline for Every Age and Stage
“This book has the most practical ways to use signs with children. It dives into how to use them in routines and every day life. Most importantly, this book teaches about feeling words and how to use them. It is so important for little ones to have language to express their emotions, as it can eliminate so many emotional meltdowns. What I also love about Lane’s new book is that she teaches the reader to start with the individual child’s interests.”―Jill Vetstein, MSW, LICSW, CEIS, owner and founder of Nurturing Parents and Teachers--This text refers to the paperback edition.

Breaks down what to look for/ when to use and how to do it
Loving this book, dound it super helpful, it not only breaks down how to do the signs in concise details. It also tells you what your child might do and when is a good time to use the sign like it advised against use "more" sign while feeding the baby due to them confusing sign to mean eating. It also explains how many to do and which ones to start with. This is almost as good as having a video show you. I had originally went looking for an app on my phone but this book is better than apps and videos I have found. I have no current complaints.
I would recommend this.
