If you're a fan of 007 and enjoy the occasional or frequent cocktail, you will want this book.

"James Bond Drinks" is well laid out with sections on spirits, cocktails, wine and beer as well as a section on equipment and glassware. It is not so much a bar tending guide as it is a history of 007 and his beverage preferences in book or on the big screen. Through the book, the author provides the book and movie references including quotes for each drink as well as a history of the drink in the real world. While I am not a huge 007 fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned much about the history of cocktails, wine and champagne producers and brewers throughout the world. The author has a style that is down-to-earth and easy to follow while educating the reader.

On top of all that the book has to offer, there are several references for additional background on all things James Bond, mixology or both together.

We Bond lovers crave all the minutae we can get about our favorite hero, and if you've always wanted to become a dashing secret agent for Universal Exports (at least in your own mind!) there's no better place to start than with this delightful book by David Leigh! The next time you're out on a date with some gorgeous operative, you can impress them by ordering one of the many exotic drinks in this book, OR EVEN BETTER - MIX UP one of these drinks back in your digs and REALLY IMPRESS THEM! Be warned, while you're sitting at home or on a trip and you're perusing this, you'll be tempted to put down the book, or Kindle, and go seek out one of these delightful libations! Cheers! Bottoms Up! Salute!

Shaken, not stirred. The three most famous words uttered by James Bond (well, perhaps after 'Bond, James Bond'). Bond's vodka martini is as closely associated with Bond as his dinner suit, Aston Martin and Walther PPK. But as this second edition of David Leigh's comprehensive guide to James Bond's drinks shows, there is more to Bond's drinking habits that a vodka and vermouth-based cocktail. The recipe for the perfect Bondian martini is included, of course, but there are plenty of other drinks to try before you get there. David Leigh has scoured Fleming's original novels, as well as the films, and the result is a selection that would keep any barman in work for a very long while. Spirits, wines, Champagnes, exotic cocktails, beer - they're all there. Beer? Really? Yes, Bond is an occasional beer drinker, and he has been for the best part of 60 years. In fact, David Leigh discusses the fuss over the appearance of Heineken in Skyfall, and reveals that the choice of beer is not so surprising. As well as offering recipes for Bondian drinks (including the Vesper), it serves as a superb reference book. Well recommended, and a must for any Bond fan.

I got the first edition of this book and enjoyed it, and with this second edition the author really 'gets down'. More stories about Bond and his drinks. The writer is smart in the fact that though he's a Bond mixology enthusiast, he has an expert on drinks as a technical adviser on this book. The author's own Q. That's what gave me confidence in the material.

I've seen 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' 20 times, but never noticed Bond drinking Enzian or ordering a 'double Steinhager'. So this book adds to the movies that I thought I knew everything about. The paperback version of this book now sells upwards to $268 on amazon, so I got the kindle. Nice to have it handy on my Ipad gadget from Q.

If you are interested in the drinks of James Bond, this is the read for you. More than just a bar mixing book. Fun and lots of information on the drinks from the movies and books. If you thought Mr. Bond drank only vodka martinis, shaken not stirred, you don't know very much about 007.

To the dedicated James Bond fan, it should come as no surprise that somewhere in the more than 50 years since Ian Fleming put typewriter ribbon to onionskin, someone has got the notion to catalog everything James Bond imbibes over the course of 14 books and 23 films. After all, anyone who has read even a single 007 adventure knows that James Bond takes great pains over what he eats and what he drinks. He does drink vodka martinis but no more than any other tipple. Bond is a man of the world and this is never more clear than in his taste for spirits. The literary Bond knows what he likes but he also knows enough to keep trying new things. The variety of spirits-based adventures upon which he dutifully embarks is as dizzying as the effect of the spirits themselves.

To catalog all of it, a man would have to be a rare combination of dedicated, meticulous and just a little fanatical to scour every single line of text and every frame of film just to collect the raw data of what Bond drinks and then go even farther with exhaustive research not only on the wines and cocktails but also on the recipes and ingredients, suggesting alternatives for those that have changed or vanished completely since the original works were produced.

It's actually a huge job and David Leigh pulls it off magnificently; organizing the book into logical sections, listing hard spirits and aperitifs, mixed drinks, wines and beers (yes, 007 likes a good brew every now and again). In this second edition, he has updated the drinks to include what Bond drinks in the upcoming film Skyfall and added a new section called Q Branch in which he lists all the glassware and appropriate gadgets you'll need for a successful mission behind the bar.
