Editorial Reviews

Extravagant digitally remastered two CD set compiling 55 hits from the long, productive and influential career of Sir Cliff Richard. Although he's a musical institution in the UK (and Europe), Cliff's influence on modern music is often overlooked. Since the '50s, he's been creating instantly memorable hits both solo and with The Shadows. Throughout the decades, Cliff has been in and (mostly) out of fashion with the music press, but there is no denying the adoration and undying support he receives from his fans and music buyers worldwide. This collection is the most complete hits package available from Sir Cliff and includes 'In The Country', 'The Young Ones', 'Living Doll', 'Lucky Lips', 'We Don't Talk Anymore', 'Summer Holiday' and many more. EMI.

One of the challenges with Cliff Richard's enormous output is that it is difficult to define him as a performer. For example, is he a rock-and-roller; is he a middle-of-the-road pop singer; is he a Christian artist? This collection shows off Richard's talent and the wide range of his work, especially his early work. Some of the pop songs and ballads seem a bit sappy, especially in light of some of the other material he recorded, and you'll be amazed that so many songs in one collection of a non-Brazilian singer can contain references to "bossa nova." That, in and of itself, dates the material, more than the work of some of Richard's contemporaries. But, Oh Boy! did he have a wide stylistic range!

This 2 disc compilation is so nice to have. Even though it is still missing some of his songs that I fancied during the 60's, I would still recommend it to Cliff Richard fans, or even not exactly his fans but good music lovers. I did not appreciate his pronunciations on some of the words in his Spanish songs, but 'shucks', he is not Spanish anyway, what would you expect ? Still his voice is soothing and relaxing but could turn into energetic and lively when the song calls for it. I have been searching for his albums from the stores ever since I came here to America, ten years ago, but glad I finally found it at [...].

I love every song on this double-CD. A lot of the songs bring back some wonderful childhood memories. I like it so much I bought one for myself and another one for by brother as a gift. I've enjoyed it and continue to enjoy it. I know you will, too.

It would have been nice to have included in this 2 disc set
that says "Complete hits" more of the 19 songs that Cliff Richard's had chart.
Yet only 5 of the 19 are here among these 55 tracks.

All five hits are within his first ten charted songs -
So here's the list to know whats here.

1. Here -- "Living doll" -- 1959.
2. Here -- "Lucky lips" -- 1963.
3. Here -- "Its all in the game" -- 1963.
4. Skipped -- "I'm the lonely one" -- 1964.
5. Here -- "Bachelor boy" -- 1964
6. Skipped -- "Congratulations" -- 1968.
7. Skipped -- "Devil womam" -- 1976".
8. Skipped -- "I can't ask for any more than you" -- 1976.
9. Skipped -- "Don't turn the light out" -- 1977.
10. Here -- "Don't talk anymore" -- 1979.
That's where the hits stop on this collection.

Footnote: Between 1980 & 1983 Richards had 9 more songs chart.
5 were top 40 hits that didn't find there way to this set either.

This 60s music is o.k. if you just want more music to listen to,
but don't expect this to be your greatest hits for Cliff Richard.
You'd be disappointed.

Brings you back to the early 1960's before the Beatles. The CD covers most of his career hits from that early time to the most recent years. I like it.
