Based on booklets the House Clinic prepared for their clients to help them understand their medical diagnosis and the actions they can take, the book is written in lay language but still comprehensive, hardly for idiots. The final, fifth, part discusses practical solutions like hearing aids, speech reading, and assistive devices. This last part covers the field clearly, realistically, and without hype, a more complete treatment than I have read elsewhere

I have hearing loss myself and found this book to be a great source of information. Everything is simplified for the average person and easily understood. Kudos to the doctors at House Ear Clinic who put this together.

I have tinnitus, and hearing loss (darn that I'm getting older). Anyway, reading this book, unlike others on this subject, really opened my eyes. I learned all about the structure of the ear, how one translates sounds into words, info on tinnitus that I hadn't heard before. The book was also easy to read, separated into short chapters about the finest of points. TOTALLY recommend this bk to others who want to learn more on this subject.

A NATIONAL PROBLEM IS HEARING LOSS!

If you or someone you know might benefit from Better Hearing get this current and up to date book.
I liked how the book covers the subject very well and in a easy reading way.
You can also zip to any topic too. I use this book as a ready reference and to refer to other people.
( to me, the fact that there are no customer reviews until now, indicates how we ignore the topic )

This book explained the many reasons for hearing loss and what can be done to protect your hearing. About a month ago I suddenly discovered I was not hearing out of one ear. I felt better after reading this book and learning about the different hearing devices available.

This is a good book if you are new to hearing problems. By the time I got it, I had scoured the internet for answers and so did not learn too much new from this book. If you are lucky enough to be able to use this doctor for any ear surgery, you will be very happy. He performed excellent surgery on my ear.

The authors are physicians and the book is too oriented toward the medical aspects of hearing loss. More emphasis on the functioning of people with hearing loss would help.
