This is an incredible -- truly incredible -- set for an astonishing price. The 6 LPs are very high quality, as are the jackets -- beautiful reissues that undoubtedly sound better than the original pressings. 4 CDs that contain all the music, a wonderful 12" x 12" book with many photos, intelligent commentary -- just blows away what most companies are doing with reissues; on a par with Bear Family, Revenant. Oh yes, the music . . . great solid bluesy soul with a lot of unconventional twists. Syl Johnson is one of the greats, never quite as charismatic as Otis, Wilson, etc., but always delivering the goods with a lot of soul, passion, intensity. If you're into Hi/Stax/Fame, etc., this is an automatic must-buy. Get it while you can.

Just got this - firs the packaging is top notch. Never heard of this label - but it is a heck of a vaule for 52.99. The vinyl is great - although don't think its 180 gram.

The CDS are awesome - Syl is a forgotten soul master. Very happy this is out.

Most people who love 60/70's soul music know Detroit (Motown) and Memphis (Stax). Not nearly as many are familiar with the Chicago soul scene. This is unfortunate, because some of the greatest soul music ever produced came out of Chicago in the 1960's. Syl's music is a fine example of this. True, authentic soul music. The package is great - CDs and Vinyl. It's good Syl is getting some credit, because man oh man, he was the real thing.

This is a great collection of blues from an artist that was an equal of many great talents of the time. If you enjoy John Lee Hooker, I am pretty sure you will dig Syl. My favorite song is still "Is It because I'm Black?" Hope you take a listen to this great set.
