I'm going to take a few days to recover, as it was a long book, before I start my next book.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this series. The story is rich in history, legend and myth is very well written. The story follows four siblings, Angelica, Amber, Joya and their brother Jovian who resides in the Holy Realm with their father Dauin. Weird things start happening to the four on the day they all 21 when their father present them with gifts that used to belong to their mother, who they never knew. Amber is abducted by a shadowy figure from outside the Holy Realm and the remaining three siblings, together with Grace, their teacher, set out to rescue her helped (or hindered) by various characters along the way.
I found it difficult to put this series down once I started reading and I would have finished it in one sitting if only there were enough hours in a day (and work interfering with my reading time lol).
I would highly recommend this series by Travis Simmons (and any other book for that fact). Pity, there wasn't more of this series, but you will not be disappointed if you choose to read this series.
Author's Writing (4 stars): I felt that the Author's writing wasn't free-flowing. Many descriptive sections seemed jumbled and out of place. For this I gave 3 stars.
However, when the Author writes dialogue, he does a great job. The interactions between characters was well written. This earned 5 stars.
Characters (4 stars): There were many characters in this series. At one point, after reading from a select group for quite a while, the Author suddenly added a new character. It definitely caused me to second guess if I opened the correct book to read.
The character roles were defined nicely. They each had their part to play, and did so.
Story-line (4 stars): The story-line itself was interesting. The battle between good and evil was provided in a way not seen with other books; that was good. However, I felt the story-line was drawn out and at some points longer than it should be. As for the climax in the story, I believe it came and went a bit too fast. It just seemed it was here and then it was over and so was the book. I was a bit disappointed in that piece.
Overall, I did enjoy the story. However, due to the writing and story-line, it took me quite a while to finish it.
