This is an excellent reference book for beginner or advanced shortwave listener. Andrew Yoder has written a number of good books on this subject. Even thou this book was published in 1997, most of the information is still valid today. It provides the following information:
1) What is shortwave radio, past, present and future
2) Information on choosing the best shortwave radio
3) Lots of details on antennas for shortwave reception
5) Information about Longwave listening
6) Information about Mediumwave listening
7) Details about shortwave listening
8) Pirate and Clandestine radio listening
9) Utilities radio listening
10) CB radio, amateur radio, FM and TV listening
11) Computer controlled radios
12) Dozen of useful tables about shortwave listening
This is a great book and you can get a real bargain if you can catch one used like I did ($0.01 plus shipping.

This book is not only well organized but also a great read. This book can save a novice listener a
thousand hours of his life to actually find stations of interest than to tune blindly into the shortwave void.
A very entertaining book with enough enjoyable subject matter to help even a professional wave "bender" keep his interest for the rest of his life.
