In Search of Your German Roots is designed to help you trace your German ancestry not only in Germany but in all the German-speaking areas of Europe. Probably not the best version to own, but the book was in excellent condition and very helpful. Very fast delivery. The existence of local history organizations is the best source material in here, as well as the brief explanations of historical events and political subdivisions in Germany. The book is written primarily PRE-internet; you can imagine how dated that makes much of the advice.

This book was recommended by a woman at my local genealogy society and it is well worth the money. I have had some trouble with tracing my German ancestry because of all the changes in borders, etc. This book gives a very good synopsis of Germany's history. The author lists many resources for searching for German records and even tells how to write a letter requesting information. It is available at my local library but I am glad I bought my own copy as it is something I will get a lot of use out of.

This little book is packed with knowledge....You can do research from your home and it shows you how to do so through correspondance via libraries, archives or records through the church and your state....
This little book will also tell you how to write to the different German Record Archives with lists of addresses throughout all the Germanic areas of Europe and gives you maps. This is a quick read with alot of information that you will use again and again as a great reference guide...well worth the price.
