Before you pay, understand that Amazon offers this User's Guide for free several times a year. If you don't want to wait, or are concerned that you will miss it on the day it's offered for free, then go ahead and pay for it. (You can watch the list at the kindlenationdaily website, which lists free books currently being offered on Amazon. It stays on there for a couple of days once it's posted.)

I have the 2012 version of this User's Guide, and wish I had discovered it earlier. Since the Kindle is constantly evolving and being upgraded, it's a good idea to download this 2013 version and check it out, even if you have the old one. You may learn about some new "bells and whistles!" I found this version better and more user-friendly than the User's Guide that comes with the Kindle, and that is downloaded to your device when you first sign in.

Keep in mind the User's Guide was published by Amazon, so there is quite a bit of Amazon self-congratulatory hype, and also a lot of product plugs. You will need to wade through the non-essential marketing information to get to the good stuff, but that doesn't make the good information you will find in the User's Guide any less useful. And that's the price you pay for getting it for free.

You get a lot of tips in the book. I've been able to use my Kindle to do a lot of things that I didn't even know it could do, and it has enhanced my experience. And details are provided in one place, allowing you to make side-to-side comparisons of products more easily.

One of the ironies of this User's Guide is that you need to understand how to use the Kindle to be able to read the instructions on how to use the Kindle on your Kindle. Got that?

This is THE Ebook to have! You don't want to miss reading this one, it is FULL of tips to help you enjoy whichever version of Kindle you have. Don't have a Kindle yet? I read this on my Kindle for the PC, so I could try out some of the tips as I was reading. Plus there are excellent tips to help you decide which Kindle is the right one one for you to buy. Tips on where to find free books, great apps to add to your Kindle. The language is simple and easy to understand so the instructions can be followed easily. This is an Ebook that I am sure to re-read and use often! I received this book free.

I received the kindle fire hd as a birthday present in September and just downloaded this book now. There is so much information I didn't know, wish I stumbled upon this book sooner.

Has helped me understand the functions of my kindle so I can do the processes easier. The book is welled laid out and easy to read and has some very good advise. I would recommend the book to someone who is hesitant about using their kindle to eh fullest.

Reference books are weighted by different things to the users of the Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD models. The listing of references all seem to cover most of the same features, tips and tricks. The problem is not all the information is available in any one book. Each book will have their own focuses. App books do the same thing. So Manuals, guidebooks, app books, it would be best to have as many as possible books to get the needed information. I would stroll by fanning my fingers across the kindle looking for something, and maybe the book doesn't cover it enough or at all to be helpful. Another book would finish off where the first book or others wouldn't cover the base on the not answered questions or needed insight. The main topics to explain functions, downloading, setting a option choice or anything else might be left out. This leaves a gap, as the user really wants to know these areas. I got this book for free, due to a promotion help in cost. So wait until it is offered for free, or use your promotional assistance. The cost would be reasonable based on 0.99. In every book I own, some useful information is pointed out better, actually explained, or illustrated to a greater degree. I only wish that special book would be written with everything you would want to know. That book would have good illustrations, step by step insructions and comprehensive tips, tricks to open up the Kindle without leaving anything left out. In the real world one has to deal with what's available, and hope the needed information is covered in one of the books.

I got this when I got my Kindle Fire and was overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to use it. This book (of which I got the e-book version of course) helped me along the way and made the Kindle a lot more user-friendly.

I have 2 kindles. One basically for reading. the Kindle Fire I do read with it, but also use it for games. This book came on both of my Kindle's. I was able to read the instructions on one and see what I was doing on the other. This made playing with the Fire easier to explore. I am glad I got this guide. Helped me a bit. Never realizing it did so much.

If you can, read this before you even get a Kindle. I didn't know anything about them and now I can tell you all the major difference in each device. It tells you step by step everything you need to know, really, and because of it now Flash works on my kindle. Actually that flash trick will work with almost any mobile device and it can make surfing on your kindle exactly like being on a computer except for graphics limitations and speed wise cuz the kindle still isn't a tablet, but it's really awesome overall.
