Editorial Reviews

The recording of the new Medications album, CompletelyRemoved, documents a new phase for the band with Chad and Devin
covering all the writing and most of the instrumental duties following the departure of Becker. Happily both are accomplished
multi-instrumentalists and are joined live and in the studio by longtime friend and musical swingman Mark Cisneros.
Not surprisingly CompletelyRemoved represents a departure from the band's signature off kilter rockers. The advantage of
being able to record and mix the album over several months at Devin s home studio, Treehouse, enabled the band to focus
more time on arrangements and production. This is not to say Medications have lost their edge. In fact, the new material dives
headlong into new musical territory with thrilling results.

This was an album that completely snuck up on me. I had forgotten about these guys. The last release they had was in 2005, and I never really got into it. I thought the first EP was simply amazing, and I really loved the band most the members were in before, Faraquet. This CD is unlike any of the older material, yet still has a distinct sound familiar to these amazing musicians.

One thing that is first notable is the change in direction. The music is looser and almost happier sounding. Not only that, but both Devin & Chad switch out lead vocal duties for the first time. This works very well, with Chad's low vocal delivery and Devin's high. It also gives the listener some variation. The songs themselves are well written in all regards. I was going to list my favorite tracks, but it seems I have gives everyone of them 5 stars on my Ipod. Just buy this album because you will not be disappointed. At least give the songs a listen if you are unfamiliar.

Medications and Faraquet are the gems of my CD collection. They have a very unique raw prog/punk sound reminiscent of Fugazi, but more melodic. Medications branches out in their sound on this album, but retains their fusion of discordant melody with simple but very effective instrumentation.

I originally came across their music while looking for something different to add to my musical landscape. I literally just clicked through YouTube videos until I came across something that would immediately grab me. These guys did it, and I'm mostly posting this review to encourage some other passerby to take the same plunge that I did. I can honestly say this is some of the most interesting music I've ever heard, without hyperbole.
