Second story, Strike: New Adult Sports Romance (Completion Book 2) takes place in Texas with baseball's 25 y/o Golden Boy, Reed Tyler and 21 y/o JayCee Shumway. This was a rags to riches story...a Cinderella story, and I loved it from it's beginning. Ms. Roberts expertly conveyed the emotional angst of JayCee's life and that of her two younger siblings in her care. The mountain of responsibility and not enough funds, yet she makes it work despite the heavy struggle. Superb story.
Book 3, Kick: New Adult Sports Romance (Completion Book 3) was different and I wasn't sure I was going to like it. I'm not crazy about aggressive women and the female character was described as a nymphomaniac with low self esteem. Great drama, lots of Rugby action and delicious controversy. It turned out very enjoyable and well worth the time.
The 4th book, Slam: New Adult Sports Romance (Completion Book 4) was more suspense with romance thrown in. Another one I wasn't sure I'd like mainly because the female character was a stubborn, demanding spoiled daddy's girl/brat Tennis Pro who expected everything her way. She was horny and sexually aggressive most of the time...again, that turns me off with female characters. But Ms. Roberts turned it around, and I ended up enjoying reading about Olivia Stradmore and Brack Jacobs (once I stopped laughing at his name). It's all about tennis and a stalker.
Ruck: New Adult Sports Romance (A Completion Novel Sports Romance Book 5) was a Rugby Novella about one of the lovable man-whorish characters from book #3. 27 y/o Rubgy Star, Van Stelson discovers he wants something more in his life other than one nighters. He wants to settle down with a good woman and hasn't the first clue how to proceed with a courtship. It's fast paced and gives closure to his character from book #3.
All the stories are told in first person from the female's POV (except book #5, which is told from the male's POV). I only wish they were all dual POV's. I missed that, but even so, they're still worth 5 star rating. Erotic dialogue with lots of well placed steam that doesn't overwhelm the plot. Well written with great execution and deliberation. The dialogue is balanced nicely with narration. Female characters are smart and feisty and usually down on their luck (in some fashion). Brilliant writing, brilliant plot(s) with HEA's and no cliffs.
Play, Strike, and Kick were my favorites. There is more depth to the characters than you originally think. I'm not giving f the stories away, so you will have to read for yourself. Ms. Roberts writing style is good, so the stories flow nicely. I appreciate the different scenarios she presented. I was especially impressed at her ability deliver some of the nuances of each sport.
Good job, Ms. Roberts!
