In my opinion, his behavior towards his now ex-wife and father-in-law in particular, makes him come across as a bit of a douchebag. The FIL regards him as a son and yet he gets upset that the FIL tries to intervene on behalf of his daughter. He could have been more understanding - the man has always been good to him and us the grandfather of his children. That too, the children seemed to like the h so easily, when they had a good mom.
As regards the h, her ex-husband ensured that she had a lovely house, car and that her institutionalised brother was well-cared for, for the rest of his life. A decent man, who still loved her but divorced her due to her witch of a mother and also because she did not want to have a family. When she relates this to the H, his response is that is that it’s all on the ex. If he was the man she needed, he would have stood by her.
The problem I guess for me is that both the H and h come across as ultimately selfish people. Not prepared to be understanding of weaknesses in other people - people, who are otherwise decent. No ones perfect.
At the end of the day I wasn’t rooting for them.
Their story they both got second chances, they both were pushed from their previous marriages without their wanting it. When Hix visits the Dew Drop and sees the beauty of Greta singing he feels that.
I️ loved this story. It takes a few pages to get used to her style of writing but once through it pages fly by. I️ highly recommend this book.
If you read to step out of your own life for awhile then read this book. The author, Kristen Ashley, creates true escape with her stories.
