Please note: The paperback is for the second edition of Complications: Abortion's Impact on Women (2nd edition, 2018).

The world's most comprehensive investigation of abortion and women's health. Rigorously researched and scientifically documented, Complications: Abortion's Impact on Women (2nd edition, 2018) examines the role of abortion in almost every aspect of women's health: depression, infertility, autoimmune disease, cancer, and intimate partner violence, to name a few. Each of the 21 chapters explores an issue in depth, thoroughly examining published studies from across the globe to find the common threads that might be missed otherwise. This book uses language that is accessible to the lay person, but in a comprehensive way that will be useful for any professional working in women's health issues: health care professionals, counsellors, policy makers, teachers, government officials. Any woman who has experienced an abortion or who might be contemplating one needs to read this book.

I know of no other comprehensive research tool on the complications of abortion, clearly organized. While the primary sources are scholarly, the summaries contained here are written for a general audience -- easy to read and comprehend. Very helpful in understanding the controversial subject of abortion.

A much needed piece to the picture puzzle in the women's healthcare discussion and abortion. For far too long much of the information has been stifled. I invite the reader to read the research with an open mind, and heart, to seek truth and common sense in the process. Set aside political ideology, propaganda and ideology. Look at the facts. Let's look out for our sisters and their lifelong healthcare and wholeness.

While obviously, very controversial because of the topic, this book it one of the few out there that avoids the "political and religious" debate about abortion and focuses almost entirely on empirical evidence. In light of this, I would recommend the book to people on both sides of the debate. There are emotive touches at the end with the stories of the women who have had abortions, but this is kept to a minimum with greater focus being placed on the science. The chapter on Maternal Mortality Rates (MMR) I found fascinating, and it has challenged my thinking on the issue. The middle section on the physical complications by far had the most clinical evidence, and I was impressed by the sheer volume of medical research which was cited. This research, in particular, also raised substantial questions which have been ignored in the larger societal debate on the issue. I look forward to the next version.

A well researched and coherent publication about a topic which has implications that are rarely informed to the public. A must read for those looking for a well supported, empirical account on abortion.

Thoroughly researched. This book is a wonderful example of facts speaking for themselves. I encourage all to read.

This right-to-lifist book contains "cherry-picked" data. That is, it cites studies which support its anti-abortion agenda, but omits studies which oppose it. For instance, the book cites epidemiological studies which report that abortion increases the risk of getting breast cancer, but it ignores the numerous studies which find that having an abortion REDUCES the risk of getting breast cancer (other cancers, too). It also fails to point out that all the major mainstream national and international medical, oncological, and gynecological professional organizations unanimously deny any link between abortion and breast cancer. Lies of omission are still lies.
