So this cable is flawless, as long as you realize that this is YPbPr, and not RGB, and also that this is not for a PS1.

YPbPr is a Component Format for Analog Cables (like Composite) that has 3 Video Inputs, and 2 Audio Inputs for Stereo Audio. This cable also has a Yellow Only output for Composite to see how clear the image can be, but also for another reason...

Now take it you want to play a PS2 or PS3 game. You have a clear crisp image, and you are like "Damn, I wonder if this works while playing PS1 games". Well Nope. It doesn't, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't support the image format. If you want your PS1 games to look nicer, I recommend an upscaler, but those are expensive, same with a CRT monitor/TV. You will be hit with an "Unsupported Format" or "No Input" on your TV, and that is because the PS1 had no type of way to communicate that way natively.

That is why that Yellow Cable exists for Composite, as some games still use it, mainly the PS1 Games, or Emulated Disk Games. Let me give you an example: Megaman X Collection.

Now this game by itself is great, I love it like the original 8 Megaman games, but when it comes to the menus in the game, it goes fine right until you select a game, then it flashes Unsupported Format, because this emulates a PS1 Game. Some games use this, and some do not. Either way, that Composite Cable is a great addition.

My HDMI port on one of my PS3 slims died recently, and I looked into having it replaced. The answer I got was that it would be better to scrap my PS3 and just buy a new one. I looked at videos on how to replace it myself, but it looked like quite the task. Given that the composite cable that comes with the PS3 outputs such a crappy low-resolution image, I figured I'd have to crack that baby open and risk screwing it all up.

In my search online for a replacement HDMI port, I came across these cables. I put my project on hold and ordered these bad boys just to try them before I started melting away the solder. Some people were saying they output a 1080p image, but I had my doubts.

This cable arrived today. I was initially pleased by the quality of the product. I had read that someone said these were cheap, thin cables... Nope. They're well-built and pretty hefty. But I needed cables that work.

I plugged in my PS3 and checked out the image on the TV. Yep, it was the horrible looking 480p resolution that the composite cable outputs. But then I remembered reading that you have to adjust the display settings on the PS3 to get 1080p. Sure enough, I changed the settings, and BOOM! I was getting an image indistinguishable from HDMI. Beautiful! I am so happy I don't have to try my hand at repair, try to find another shady repairman, or buy an entirely new system. For under $13, my PS3 is back in business, as great as ever!

I am now placing an order for a second cable as a back-up.

If you find yourself with a broken HDMI input on your PS3, search no further... this is the solution to all your worries!

Portta PETRHP YPbPr Component RGB + R/L to HDMI Converter v1.3 support LPCM

My basic need/issue was using my beloved PS2 with "modern day" televisions, after my last old TV died, given the problem that the "old tech" of the PS2 is not happy playing through the "new tech" of today's Smart 1080p TV's, meaning I suddenly had no more PS2 game play because of such a horrible picture. Since I still love my PS2 games (see my slight rant in the Portta review) I knew I had to solve this problem!

Plenty of research yielded the best option -- upgrade to these cables, with five outputs instead of three, and then connect these cables to an HDMI conversion box. So, these cables run from my PS2 (and yes they work perfect on the PS2) into the Portta HDMI Converter mentioned above, and then a standard HDMI cable runs out of the Portta box, and into my TV.

The signal is "cleaned up" twice, one upgrade coming from these component cables, and a final bit of improvement coming from the HDMI signal being upgraded a little by my TV.

The end result is that my old school PS2 now looks FANTASTIC on my new school TV, and I'm a very happy gamer!

So, for all the PS2 fans out there, do not despair when your last "tube" TV finally fails -- just get these cables, and the HDMI converter box and you're back in business!

I bought this for my 2nd room TV and it does the Job.

The cable is an almost replica of the Speedlink component cable with its own unique variations.

- The TNP version has 6 connectors (extra Yellow from Composite) compared to 5 Component from Speedlink.
So you have more television choices or one annoying cable that dangles behind your tv.
- The TNP is slightly shorter than the advertised 6 feet/ 1.8 metres, I would say around 1.7 metres
- The TNP cable is wrapped in a braided material instead of rubber, sort of feels weitd to me but it is easy to hold.

Overall satisfied, hope this lasts for a long time!

PlayStation 2 Cable, Look No Further!

This Component cable is the best I've owned to use on PlayStation 2. The other one I own I bought from another company was ok but I got Noise/Static on the video picture but with this it's not the case.

The cable is top quality, you get the main cable part to the PlayStation with a fibre jacket like those expensive HDMI cables were on the net at £40 and the video and sound connectors are gold plated for better transmission and I would also presume that it's shielded so I get no interference.

Make sure to change the setting on the menu screen to Component not Composite as it won't work and do this using a Composite cable first.

I've also found that Tony Hawks's American Wasteland (US Edition) is at 720 x 480 60P and Gran Turismo (US Editon Custom) 1920 x 1080 60i - Probably the only game that supported that resolution at the time.

Fantastic purchase I would buy from these again. I've attached photos to show the screen running.

Very good quality, feels well made and cannot fault it. This next part is nothing to do with the product, but a clear understanding of the PS2 hardware. So, the picture is not perfect, but this is because the PS2 is Analog vs the HD TV, which is digital, so whilst it does a good job, the best experience will always be through a CRT old school TV. This is 90% there though, picture is a bit dark and so needs picture enhanced/brightened, also recommend to use the MPEG noise filter (TV Setting on Samsung TVs (not sure about others) to smooth out the picture and improve visual quality. So all in all, the product is perfect, but just don't expect what you would of got 20 years ago on the TVs the PS2 was designed for. Technology has changed, the PS2 is as it was, it cant be modernised.

Don’t usaly write reviews, but thought I would for this. Used it as an upgrade for my ps2 on a newer HD tv, replacing the stock cable. I didn’t use an HDMI converter as my tv had the component inputs already.
Makes the ps2 games look a lot better, can tell even from the start up screen.
The blur that I was used to was significantly reduced, and have noticed lots of little details in games that I haven’t noticed before, even after playing them 1000’s of times over the years (for instance just stupid things like what little road signs say in tiny hawks underground)
Over all extremely please with the picture upgrade. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to play ps2 games on a HD tv.
