Opiniones editoriales
Críticas
"An imaginative and engaging introduction to the concept of composting."
Review, Through the Looking Glass, June 1, 2010:
"This wonderful rhyming picture book will show children how easy, and how fun, composting can be."
Review, San Francisco Chronicle:
"Bouncy rhymes and busy collage art zip along as everything from apple cores to zinnia heads gets tossed into a rich and rotting soil-bound mix. A potentially heavy-handed message is delivered with a light touch so that you want to start your own waste heap right away. Mission accomplished!"
Review, Washington Post:
"When it comes to promoting environmentalism, there's no harm in starting young....Ashley Wolff's collage-style illustrations, made from newspaper, tea bags and other recycled materials, echo writer Mary McKenna Siddals's message of reducing waste."
Review, Booklist:
"This title highlights a subject rarely covered in youth books and provides a lighthearted introduction to an earth- and kid-friendly activity. The brightly patterned collage artwork featuring a cast of multicultural kids working together will easily draw a young audience."
Compost Stew is beautiful, poetic, evocative—and educational. It provides such vital, important information for children (and adults) to understand and embrace, and to put into practice! This book greatly respects its readers, and I hope it will become as widely read and popular as it deserves.

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 15 de mayo de 2021Adore this book! We started composting this year and I wanted a book to help get my child excited about it and this was a great hit. I learned some things from it as well! I loved the alphabet format and the way it discusses composting as making a stew! Definitely recommend!

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 30 de julio de 2019I read this book to a couple of the preschool and pre-K classes at a local school. The kids loved the story line and the pictures. I was able to get the kids to discuss more than just the words in the book, but also what the pictures meant. This was an introduction to the school-wide composting campaign that has been implemented. Great book to share with the little ones (and grownups, too).

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 11 de abril de 2011This is a simple, yet very well written alphabet book packed with tons of information about composting. My students and I have just started composting at our school, and this was one of our sources. I did not rely on this exclusively, of course, but used it as a starting point. They have returned to it several times this year, and will be reading it to the younger students. This should definitely be in one of your classroom library baskets.

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 16 de abril de 2014Compost Stew is now tops on my five-star list of alphabet books for kids!
The combination of author and illustrator is superb and will no doubt entertain and educate the youngest of readers. Teaching our children about composting is so important for the future of planet Earth. I highly recommend this book as a beginner guide to introduce children to composting as a way of turning trash into treasure.
Children of all ages - yes, Adult, this means you - will appreciate this beauty of an ABC book.

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 10 de agosto de 2018Purchased this for my 5-year-old grandson plus 2 additional copies for our Creation Care Council at Church. Both my grandsons (the 11 year old thought it was cool too) loved it; and the Chair of our Council thought it was a great addition to our bookshelf for "kids of all ages." This, and the other books I purchased with it are a great way to get kids thinking about and involved in preserving our planet.

Calificado en Estados Unidos el 3 de septiembre de 2012I received a copy of this to review on my green living blog and loved it so much that I bought a second copy to give to my son's kindergarten teacher. She had borrowed our copy twice to read to her classes and was thrilled to have her own copy. The author was even kind enough to send me signature plates to put in the books!
I highly recommend purchasing this book for children of any age. The lovely sing-song reading is fun and the illustrations are simply perfect!
