Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478), AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP (Socket 462), and Sempron/AMD64 (Socket 754/939/940) compatible design for broad compatibility. (To use this product on socket 775, ZM-CS1 must be purchased separately.) 92mm fan inside the FHS maximizes airflow and makes installation easier. Adjustable fan speed controller (Fan Mate 2) enables control of noise and fan performance.

Great CPU cooler for my P4. It just fits on my Biostar P4 M900 mobo. Keeps the temps at a toasty cold 80 degrees F. The case had two other fans installed - I unplugged both and the CNPS 7000B kept airflow over the RAM and mobo chipset.
This is the CPU Cooler to get if your mobo supports the listed sockets.

I bought this fan for 27.77 dollars at Amazon to replace the fan included with an Upgradeware P478 adapter. The P478 adapter is a socket 423 to 478 adapter that, several years ago, I bought to upgrade the cpu of a Compaq Presario 7120US (Intel D850GB mobo based) from Intel P4 1.5Ghz to 2.8Ghz (512K 400 bus Northwood). This Zalman CNPS7000B fan fits perfectly in the special 423 to 478 Fan Bracket Adapter (FBA) which was my main concern when decided to try this fan. On regards the noise thing, I just noted the main source of noise in my Presario is the power supply and not this fan. However, I still feel comfortable with this purchase because the Intel P4 2.8GHz processor was really generating high amount of heat (~69C degrees), more notable during summer time. The fan is so heavy (755g.). According to the CNPS7000B User's Manual, the maximum weight for a cooler is specified as 450g for Intel socket 478/775 and AMD socket 754/939/940 and 300g for AMD socket 462. But as mentioned above, it fits fine and looks secure in the FBA so I don't see it be a problem at all in my case. Finally, It is nice to have the ability to control the speed of the fan using the included FANMATE2 adapter.

Wow, This is one hunk of copper! Runs about 150g more then rated board strength for AMD socket 462. So be extra careful when moving the CPU. Was quite pleased with The fast shipping, This GA-7DX© (2.2) was running 132 - 145 Deg. After installing Which requires total removal of the mother board, and mounting two base plates with a 4 hold MB, was tricky, you can't have any Capacitors taller than 15 mm (surprise)
or (0.59in) located under the CPU. This board was OK with that, but had a issue with the hold down clip and (1) a capacitor; the fan hold down clip has two holes on each side of the processor hold downs, this 2001 Millennia Max XP, clip cleared the power supply plug, but hit the capacitor next to the ram, but before I ran to Radio Shack, I removed the fan from the heat sink, and took the hold down clip to the shed, and cut off 1/8th " (HACK SAW REQUIRED) of the un-used second hole which would clear the capacitor. At that point- reassembly was required. the results were outstanding - CPU temp dropped 32 deg with Artic Silver 5. Over all - Would rate this as a Positive improvements @ $40 Bucks and 2 hours of time.

The Zalman CNPS7000B cooling fan is well built and works great. The only drawback is that I had to remove my mother board to install the screws that hold the mounting bracket for a socket 462 installation.I also had to trim the mounting clip on one side because it would hit capacitors on the motherboard. It probably would not be an issue on the socket 478,939 or 940 motherboards.Overall, except for the tough install, I would recommend this cpu cooling fan.

I had it for like 4 months now i couldn't be happier before i was suffering from the heat and the noise of my old Intel fan , I really recommend this product for hard core Gamers . And i gave it 4 stars though because i was kind of disappointment that the fan wont work with-Out the Fan controller.

I have a Prescott core 3.2G Extreme Edition Pentium 4 processor. Before I got this cooler the processor would run above 70 deg C with a regular Intel heat sink. Lucky for me this processor has throttling so I didn't burn it up. With this cooler the processor runs in the 60 deg C range. I also have two other fans in the case helping to cool it. I have purchased two other of these coolers to run P4s in the 3.2G and 3.4G range. You have to be a little careful when screwing this cooler down so you do not distort the base of the cooler.

and keeps the CPU 10 degrees cooler! Wow. A little involved to install, as you have to completely disassemble your existing PC to replace the CPU fan, but no biggie if you are making a new PC.
