This is an excellent Spanish first publication of Religion Professor Jose P. Miranda's 1981 book later translated into English as "Communism in the Bible" in 1982. The translation was published by Orbis Books of Maryknoll. Miranda is explaining aspects of First Century Christianity using modern terminology, thereby making it relevant. His basis includes Scriptures such as Acts 2:44-45 and Acts 4:32, whereby the Christians who knew Christ best, first-hand, held everything in common, none claiming property as private property. Since the modern term for that type system is "Communism," in Spanish, "Comunismo," Miranda uses that terminology. His purpose is to restore the value system of First Century Christianity. This view is at variance with the common view. (Understandably, as Communism is considered atheistic by moderns). Miranda thoroughly documents his position from the Bible. The book also includes refuting various myths that have been used to reject the Acts 2 and 4 system. Prof. Miranda writes in an engaging style intended to persuade by providing masses of evidence. This is a short book, not intended to be comprehensive. His other writings, both in Spanish and as translated into English, provide much more depth. But this book is an excellent introduction to this part of First Century Christianity. The book can be read as a "stand alone" book on the subject. Readers who want more depth should also acquire his other related books.
