Not with this story. It was as if I was reading a blog straight out of someone's real life experiences. The many coincidences seemed a bit troubling at first, but the author is really smooth. The characters enter the plot and other circles with ease. It still feels real, inviting, and there is a sort of empathy one develops with the characters while reading this book. It's not all fluff and sex, the characters pull you in with their own problems and solutions. The sexual scenes are not overly done and too heavy. The author has created a great balance here. Dashingly sexy, erotic, truthful and real.
Still, I'm giving this book 5 stars because it's well worth the money. I'll be the first to buy his next book when it comes out.
The book serves several different functions: It's a well written story that you'll enjoy if you have even a passing interest in ageplay and/or diaper fetishism. It's an eye-opener to those of use who perhaps haven't been exposed to some different ways that ageplay can be expressed beyond the diapers and pacifiers. For the environments, event types and kinks it covers, it's a nice primer for those who may be new or being introduced to ageplay on how to get involved and shows some pitfalls to be wary of falling into. It's a pep talk for those of us who perhaps don't quite have the courage yet to step out into the wider ageplay world - I wonder how many people will be inspired to go to a munch because of Mako's writings?
Oh, and above all, did I mention that it's hot? :)
At the heart of it, the stories themselves are not about ageplayers, fetishists or kinksters. They're about everyday people with feelings and desires who are learning how to navigate new relationships, and new territory within existing ones. The reader gets a close-up of the joyful, sad, lusty, poignant and sometimes downright frickin scary results. In a way, it's educational, because it paints honest pictures of people with alternative lifestyles being both alternatively sexual and human.
