About the Author
According to his biographers, the 5th Shamarpa, Könchok Yenlak (1526–83), was born in a remote area of Tibet called Kyen Zhölmo Ché. Shamar Könchok Yenlak is remembered for his tireless bodhisattva activity. He built a number of monasteries and ordained his disciples with great enthusiasm. He composed many memorable treatises, notably on madhyamika, abhidharma, tantric practice, the six yogas of Naropa, mahamudra meditation, and Tibetan language. His collected works are generally presented in eight substantial volumes.

But it's only for serious practitioners of Lojong (Mind Training). This is not a fastfood self-help book. This book requires rereading.
On soundcloud you can find a commentary by the 14th Shamar Rinpoche (https://soundcloud.com/perfect-echo/sets/shamar-rinpoche-teaches-on-the-seven-points-of-mind-training). This was one of his last teaching before he passed away and is a perfect companion to the book.
