I'm active duty Army and I bought this to use in place of the issued FLC, which I'm not fond of. Part of my daily uniform when training Soldiers is the FLC, so I needed something that was functional and versatile that could be worn without body armor. I am 5'7"/165lbs and this vest fits me perfectly on the smallest setting. There are velcro fasteners to keep all your straps tucked nice and neat, which is important to me. The shoulder straps are padded and there is mesh on the inside around the waist, so it is comfortable and relatively cool.
The built-in magazine pouches free up space so that you can attach more pouches to the molle. I have not tried this with a full combat load, so I'm not sure how much bulkier that is actually going to make it but for day to day use, I don't carry magazines anyway, so it fits my needs.Like others, I don't have much use for the chest piece, so I took it off. It is an interesting feature though and is good to have in case I need it later.
The hydration bladder sleeve on the back is half the reason I bought this vest in particular. It is convenient not having to carry an extra pack just for water. The sleeve is bare bones and doesn't have any kind of tube management. It is just a rectangle with a flap. This isn't a huge deal but it will require some adjustment. There is no hook on the inside for you to hang your bladder on, so the bladder will sag, which isn't ideal. It is a simple fix though, just sew a loop of paracord in there and you are good to go, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to do. There is veclro at the top of the sleeve where you can put your nametape.
Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase, and even though the multicam is stupidly expensive, it was worth the money. If anyone has any questions about how it works for me, feel free to ask. Maybe I'll add a photo later when I'm finished putting it together with all of my pouches and whatnot.
Update: I have been using this for about 4-5 months now and this has held up pretty well. I took some pictures with all of my pouches on it so you can see what it looks like customized for my everyday use.
