Dumped bike on trial run.......
July 6, 2013
......with 4 straps on it!!!!!!! The Pit Stand worked on my (non-moving) garage floor to hold the bike up (1700 Vaquero), but the "only 1 screw needed" quick-release trailer mount kit let the stand spin in my trailer and dump the bike! Good thing I had the 4 straps or it would have crashed the fairing. Luckily, I only bent a saddlebag support frame!!! Watched the video demo for this thing and liked how it holds the bike by itself (when it's not going down the road in your trailer), but I knew when he said you only need 2 straps on the bike to trailer it, that it wouldn't be enuff. I shoulda known, his demo has the stand "bolted-down" to a piece of plywood that is not moving at all. I would give the stand itself 4 stars for holding the bike upright, but since it came with the quick-release trailer mount, and that's what I bought it for (to haul in my 33' toy hauler), it is a fail as installed per manufactuerer's instructions. The stand does have extra holes drilled in the front support and side rails that are counter-sunk and SHOULD work great to keep the stand from spinning, just a pain the arse to drill 4 MORE holes in the floor of my trailer to make this a "NON-QUICK-RELEASE CHOCK". Oh yeah, the hold-down thumbscrew bent, it's trash.
07/15/2016 Update: Mounted Pitstop in "quick release" bracket, drilled 4 more holes in floor of RV to accept wood screws through the already provided countersunk holes on the Pitstop, 4 straps on the bike, and no spins or falls. Save yourself the money and avoid the "quick release bracket", just use 4 wood screws that you can back out to remove the stand.
