I am clearing a rock wall from brush and small trees and I was struggling with the United cutlery panga, then switched over to this, and even though it's a lot smaller, it was more effective.
I actually like the Condor tools bushcraft parang better, for the money, it's bigger, I'm not hiking, just yard work, so bigger is better.
From the lightweight feel, ergonomic handle, cutting edge and overall compact design, this is perfect for removing branches, skinning bark, and general up-close weed slashing.
The sheath is more than adequate, secures the blade well, and easy enough to carry.
The high visibility of the orange handle could be overcome by tape, or perhaps even paint, but it grows on you fast because it makes this so easy to see with your peripheral vision; you're always aware of where it is.
The way the plastic handle engages your hand prevents slippage either way, and it does have a lanyard hole if you feel so inclined.
At almost 20" long, it still would fit and/or strap to a trail pack easily enough. Though, my packing days are pretty much over, and I tend to simply carry it from place to place. It's not an axe, though and I don't use it for wood splitting, batoning, etc...it is much more the close, easily controlled blade of a machete.
